Chili pepper is a specialty of Yizhou. It is rich in vitamins, which is 35 times higher than that of eggplant, 9 times higher than that of tomato, 3 times higher than that of Chinese cabbage, and 2 times higher than that of white radish. Its nutritional value is very high, and it is known as the "crown of vegetables". Regular consumption of small amounts can increase appetite, protect health and have great benefits, and can promote saliva secretion and active enzymes of starch. It is also rich in sterilization and disinfection effects. Due to its unique effects, the local area is given the title of "Hometown of Chili Pepper". Yizhou peppers are known for their beautiful appearance, bright color, and spicy flavor, especially the Tianying pepper series. Since they were planted in 1988, their quality has been sold well in domestic and foreign markets and in the international market. After more than ten years of development, the pepper industry has a total area of more than 100,000 mu, and an agricultural industrialization pattern integrating Tianying pepper planting, processing, and sales has been formed. In 1998, it was named the hometown of Chinese peppers by the Ministry of Agriculture, and the "Jizhou Pepper Festival" was successfully held in 1998, 1999, and 2000. The growth environment of Yizhou pepper is unique and very sophisticated. The temperature cannot be too high or too low. Its variety growth period is about 190 days. The effective accumulated temperature during the growth period needs to be as high as 4,000 degrees Celsius. Its roots are relatively shallow. Jizhou pepper is distributed in the shallow soil layer within 25cm. The plant height is 45-50cm. The plant branching is a pseudo-binary limited branching type. The average number of branches per plant is 5-7, and the number of branches is more than 10. The branching fruiting volume accounts for a high proportion of the yield. Flowers are clustered at the top of the branches. The flowers are complete flowers, bell-shaped, with short pedicels, 5 calyxes, green, and the calyx persists after the flowers fade. Self-pollination is the main method. The true leaves are oval or oblong, simple, alternate and without leaf receptacles. The fruit is a berry. The fruit grows upward, conical, 4-7cm long, about 1cm in diameter at the base, pointed and slightly curved at the top, and the fruit is shiny. The growth period requires a higher temperature, the optimum temperature for seed germination is 25-28°C, the optimum temperature for the growth period is 20-25°C, and the night temperature is 18°C. Yizhou pepper has a certain ability to resist low and high temperatures. Whether the requirement for sunlight is medium, or weak, it is not conducive to the growth of Jizhou pepper, but the requirement for soil is not so serious. Under normal circumstances, eyebrows can produce about 200 kilograms. |
