Steamed Eggplant with Cured Meat

Steamed Eggplant with Cured Meat

Today I will introduce to you the specific method of steaming eggplant with preserved meat. It is very simple.

Introduction to Steamed Eggplant with Cured Meat

I remember that in the first semester of my senior year, the school forced us, who were preparing for the college entrance examination, to live on campus in order to ensure our college entrance examination scores. We had to study until 11 o'clock every night, and I, who was used to going home for dinner every day, had to eat dinner in the school cafeteria.

At that time, since most of the students in the high school were from the city, there were very few students living on campus, and the school cafeteria was relatively simple. Not only was the food poor, but there were also very few windows open. Suddenly, hundreds of boarding students were added, and the small restaurant was crowded in an instant. The chef did not expect such a grand occasion, and the food he prepared was far from enough. Therefore, on the first day, many students did not get a meal. After a week of adjustment, the chef of the cafeteria finally managed to control the amount of food. However, although the food could meet the needs, the variety was still monotonous.

At that time, the canteen was far from the teaching building. There was a 400-meter playground, a basketball court, a volleyball court, and a small garden between them. Every evening, when the bell rang, hundreds of students rushed to the canteen with their rice bowls in their arms like a 100-meter sprint. For those of me who were slow, by the time I squeezed into the canteen panting, not to mention the meat dishes, even the only dish that could compare to meat in taste, the roasted eggplant, was gone.

Later, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the boy sitting next to me always managed to squeeze to the front of the line with his strong back and strong waist. So I used my ability to help him with 10 physics problems every day as a bargaining chip to ask him to bring me a portion of food when he got his lunch. My request was not high, I would eat whatever he ate. Unexpectedly, this guy had a special liking for roasted eggplant, so much so that I knew every day without opening the lunch box that he was eating roasted eggplant again today...

I ate fried eggplant for almost a semester. Now, I can tell who is making fried eggplant just by smelling it. Although I still eat eggplant occasionally, I am no longer used to eating fried eggplant that is greasy. Relatively speaking, I prefer lighter methods, such as stewing, steaming, and mixing eggplant...

Today's spicy steamed eggplant is a recipe I came up with on a whim. Cut the eggplant, put slices of Chinese sausage in it, and steam it together. It's so easy, and the whole process takes no more than 20 minutes. No need to add a drop of oil, the steamed eggplant is infused with the special aroma of Chinese sausage, and you can taste its own sweetness while chewing, keeping the original taste of the ingredients. It's definitely a healthy and happy way to eat. Haha, when we eat, we have to eat in a unique way.

Steamed Eggplant with Cured Meat

1 long eggplant 1 sausage

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

Steamed Eggplant with Cured Meat

1. Wash the eggplant and slice it from one side, but do not cut it off.

2. Wash the sausage, remove the casing and cut into thin slices

3. Put the sausage slices into the eggplant cut slits and pour 1 spoon of oyster sauce evenly; boil water in a pot, put the sausage into the steamer after the water boils, steam it over high heat for 15 minutes

Tips

1. It is best to choose long eggplants, as they have a nicer shape;

2. Don’t cut the eggplant slices too thin, because they will be soft after steaming and it will be difficult to shape if they are too thin;

3. Cut the sausage as thinly as possible, otherwise it will be difficult to stuff into the eggplant;

4. Don’t steam it for too long, otherwise the eggplant will change color easily.
