Key points for cultivating pea seedlings in autumn

Autumn is the best time to grow peas, so how to better cultivate them at this time and what should we pay attention to?

Choose the right seeds

Choose local high-yield, high-quality, small-grain, smooth, new bean varieties of the year.

Land preparation and fertilization

Apply 50 kg to 60 kg of decomposed cake fertilizer and 50 kg of three-element compound fertilizer per mu. After spreading the fertilizer, plow the land and make a 2-2.5-meter deep slope.

Sowing at the right time

Autumn pea seedlings are sown in late August and early September, with a seed rate of about 20 kg per mu. There are two sowing methods: one is row sowing, with a sowing width of 20 cm and a width spacing of 15 cm; the other is hole sowing, with a row spacing of 25 cm and a plant spacing of 15 cm, 6-8 seeds per hole, and 2-2.5 cm of soil covering after sowing. Use chemical herbicides after sowing. You can choose 150 ml of 40% dimethoate EC diluted with 40 kg of water for soil treatment after sowing and before seedlings emerge.

Fertilizer and water management

Keep the soil moist, prevent water accumulation in the field, and water to resist drought. At the same time, apply seedling fertilizer and fertilizer after each harvest, about 5 kg to 10 kg of urea per mu each time, spread it in the afternoon when the soil is moist after harvest, and remove weeds in the field in time.

Pest and disease control

The main diseases and pests that harm peas are powdery mildew and brown spot, which can be controlled with 500 times diluted 50% carbendazim or 2000 times diluted 70% thiophanate-methyl. If aphids are found, use the biological pesticide - 3000 times diluted chlorpyrifos. Each time the pesticide is sprayed 10 days before harvest.
