What should we pay attention to when growing peas? Today I will explain it to you in detail: (1) Cultivation season:In the south, pea seedlings are cultivated in the open field, and the green tender leaves are picked for consumption. There are two types of pea seedlings: spring pea seedlings and autumn pea seedlings. Spring pea seedlings are sown in mid-October in autumn and harvested in the spring of the following year when the seedlings are 16-20cm tall. Autumn pea seedlings are sown in early August and harvested from late September to early October. (2) Fertilization:Because they eat the tender heads, nitrogen fertilizer should be added to increase the yield of tender heads, and potassium fertilizer should be applied appropriately to enhance disease resistance. Do not use human feces and urine as topdressing to keep the pea seedlings clean and hygienic. (3) Seeding:Pea seedlings should be planted densely. In spring, pea seedlings are sown in rows with a spacing of 30 cm and a width of 10 cm. The appropriate seed rate is 15 kg per mu. In autumn, the row spacing of pea seedlings is 15 cm, and the seed rate is 30-40 kg per mu. (4) Field management:Pay attention to keeping the soil moist. Water in time when it is dry, but be careful not to let the soil get too wet and cause waterlogging. Weeding should be done in time before closing the row. Due to the high sowing density, weeding can be done manually. Pay attention to the prevention and control of diseases and pests during the growth period, especially leaf miners and aphids. Aphids mainly suck the juice of stems and leaves, causing the leaves to curl and turn yellow, making the tender leaves lose their commercial value, and spread yellow top disease, causing the new leaves to turn yellow and become smaller, wrinkled and curled, and the leaves to become brittle, and the plants to shrink and die. Powdery mildew causes the leaves to turn yellow and fall off. You can spray the leaves with 1500-2000 times diluted 70% thiophanate methyl or 0.3 degree Baume lime sulfur mixture once every 7 days for a total of 2-3 times. (5) Harvesting:Because the pea seedlings in the south are eaten as tender heads, only the tender tips of the upper compound leaves (with 1-2 unexpanded tender leaves) are picked. It is advisable to use a knife to harvest. After the first harvest, harvest every 7-15 days, and you can harvest 5-6 times. If the growth period is long, you can harvest more times. After harvesting, put them in a basket and do not pile them too thick to prevent heat. Generally, 750-1000 kg of tender heads can be produced per mu. |
