Soilless cultivation technology of pea seedlings

Soilless cultivation technology of pea seedlings

When cultivating peas, we generally know that they are cultivated in soil, so what about soilless cultivation of pea seedlings?

1. Cultivation facilities.

All waste and idle houses such as warehouses, enclosed balconies, plastic greenhouses, etc. can be used for cultivation. Three-dimensional cultivation of pea seedlings requires the erection of iron seedling trays. It can be cultivated in all seasons. The plastic trays used for cultivating pea seedlings are generally black seedling trays with a length of 60 cm, a width of 24-25 cm, and a height of 3-5 cm. Pea seedlings are relatively cold-resistant, with a suitable growth temperature of 18-28℃ and a humidity of about 80%, and require weak light.

2. Cultivation Technology

1. Seed selection. There are many varieties that can be used to produce pea seedlings, such as yellow peas, green peas, hemp peas and purple peas. The quality and growth of each variety of peas are different. Practice has shown that green peas and hemp peas with thick seed coats and small seeds are the best because they grow fast, have strong resistance, and produce thick pea sprouts with thick stems and leaves. At the same time, seeds with high purity, strong germination rate and a shelf life of no more than one year should be selected for production.

2. Processing. Seeds must be manually screened before soaking to remove insects, mildew, deformities and other impurities to avoid direct pollution during growth, causing rotten seeds, rotten buds and uneven growth. Then wash with warm water at 20-30℃ for 2-3 times.

3. Soak the seeds. Soak the seeds directly in cold water, 12-20 hours in spring, summer and autumn, and 20-24 hours in winter. The amount of water is generally 2-3 times the weight of the dry beans. Soak until the seeds are fully expanded, the wrinkles disappear, and the radicle can be seen through the seed coat.

4. Sowing. Rub the soaked seed beans gently with your hands to remove the mucus attached to the seed coat, drain the excess water, and then spread them evenly in the seedling tray (plastic seedling trays should be disinfected with potassium permanganate first, and newspaper or toilet paper should be placed on the bottom of the tray as a substrate). Each tray should weigh about 500 grams of dry beans, and finally flatten them with your hands.

5. Management. Stack 6-10 trays with beans in them, and place an empty tray covered with newspaper on each side to keep them moist. Spray water every 10-12 hours (it is best to spray water without water in the tray). While spraying water, rotate the trays up and down, front and back, left and right. After about 48 hours of germination, when the seedlings grow to 2-3 cm, the trays should be placed on the ground or moved to the cultivation rack for management.

After the seedling trays are laid out, the light in the production room should be adjusted. The light should not be too strong to prevent the cellulose of the pea seedlings from forming prematurely and affecting the quality, but it should not be too weak to prevent the pea seedlings from growing thin and weak. The temperature should be controlled at around 22℃, and water should be sprayed 2-3 times a day. Spray less on rainy, foggy, snowy days or when the indoor temperature is low, and spray more when the temperature is high or the humidity is low.

3. Harvesting.

When the pea seedlings grow to about 15 cm, grow uniformly, have tender yellow cotyledons, and have expanded or fully enlarged compound leaves, they can be harvested in time. They can be sold in whole trays or cut with a sharp knife from 5-6 cm from the base and packaged for sale.
