Pea seedling planting technology

After winter, you can plant peas. So what technology is needed for pea planting? Here is the answer for you:

1. Requirements for tools and production sites

(I) Plastic tray: The seedling tray used for producing pea seedlings should be durable, lightweight, and have good air permeability. Generally, black plastic seedling trays are used. Its specifications are: the outer diameter of the bottom is 60 length x 23 width, the upper opening is 60.5 length x 24 width, and the height is 5 (unit: cm). The outer bottom of the plastic seedling tray has 19 45-degree oblique ties on the left and right, and 3 vertical ties in the middle to prevent it from twisting and deforming during use. The 3 vertical ties and 19 45-degree oblique ties divide the seedling tray into 76 squares, among which there are 1218 3x 3 mm air-permeable and water-leaking holes. The seedling tray weighs about 0.5 kg.

(II) Location requirements: Pea seedlings can be grown in unused houses, enclosed balconies, or winter-warm greenhouses. The temperature should be 18-23°C, and the humidity should be around 80%. Weak light is required.

2. Production Technology

(I) Seed selection: When producing pea seedlings, do not use large peas with yellow or green skin, as these peas are prone to rot. You should use green peas or hemp peas with thick seed coats and small seeds. The pea seedlings produced by these peas have thick stems and leaves, grow fast, and have strong disease resistance. In principle, the seeds should have full seeds, high purity and cleanliness, and a germination rate of more than 95%.

(ii) Processing: Wash the seeds 2-3 times with warm water at 20-30℃ to remove impurities and broken beans.

(III) Soaking peas: First, blanch the peas in warm water at 55℃ for 5 minutes, stirring carefully. Then soak them in clean water at 25-28℃, 2-3 times the weight of the seeds, for about 18-24 hours (shorter in summer and autumn, longer in winter and early spring). Wait until the seeds are fully expanded, wrinkles disappear, and the bud roots can be clearly seen in the transparent seed coat after soaking.

(IV) Production: After soaking the seeds, rub off the mucus on the seed coat and drain the excess water, then spread the seeds evenly in a plastic tray (the plastic tray must be disinfected with rot fungus cleaner and covered with newspaper or toilet paper). Stack 6 trays and spray water twice a day (it is better to spray without water in the seedling tray). While spraying water, swap the seedling trays up and down, front and back, left and right. After 48 hours, the pea seedlings will grow to 2-3 cm in height. At this time, the seedling trays can be placed on the ground or moved to the cultivation rack for production management.

During the growth period of pea seedlings, it is important to pay attention to not too strong light, so as to avoid premature formation of cellulose and affect the quality. However, the light should not be too weak, so as to avoid the pea seedlings growing thin and weak.

During the growth period, water should be sprayed 2-3 times a day. Pay attention to spraying less in rainy and foggy weather or when the indoor temperature is low, and spray more in high temperature or low indoor humidity. In addition, pay attention to necessary ventilation to prevent seedling rot.

(V) Sales standard: Seedling height 10-12 cm, buds light yellow-green, uniform, top compound leaves just unfolded, tender and bright.
