How to grow tomatoes How to grow tomatoes

The reproduction of tomatoes is very important. Here are some tips on how to grow tomatoes:

Preparations for tomato planting

(1) Preparation of nutrient solution

1 Nutrient solution formula: Use the tomato formula of Beijing Vegetable Research Center. This formula is suitable for hard water in the north. The fertilizer dosage is 707 g/ton of calcium nitrate, 404.2 g/ton of potassium nitrate, 260.7 g/ton of potassium sulfate, 40.0 g/ton of ammonium nitrate, 152.1 g/ton of magnesium sulfate, and 200-250 ml/ton of phosphoric acid. The micro-fertilizer formula is 16 g/ton of EDTAFe, 3 g/ton of boric acid, 2 g/ton of manganese sulfate, 0.22 g/ton of zinc sulfate, 0.08 g/ton of copper sulfate, and 0.02 g/ton of ammonium molybdate.

2 Method for preparing nutrient solution: First, prepare the stock solution. For example, to prepare 1 ton of nutrient solution, weigh 707 grams of calcium nitrate and put it into bucket No. 1, add 10 liters of water, stir and dissolve thoroughly to make 10 liters of No. 1 stock solution. Then weigh 404.2 grams of potassium nitrate, 260.7 grams of potassium sulfate, 40.0 grams of ammonium nitrate, and 152.1 grams of magnesium sulfate, pour them into bucket No. 2 together, add 10 liters of water, stir and dissolve thoroughly to make 10 liters of No. 2 stock solution. Add 0.2 tons of clean water to the nutrient solution tank, add the dissolved No. 1 stock solution, continue to add water and stir. When the water volume in the nutrient solution tank reaches 0.8 tons, add No. 2 stock solution, continue to add water and stir, and stop adding water when the water reaches 1 ton. Add the dissolved 22 grams of mixed micro-fertilizer and 200-250 ml of phosphoric acid, stir evenly, and the solution preparation is complete. When preparing the liquid, the above-mentioned operation process should be followed. Avoid adding the No. 1 stock solution and the No. 2 stock solution too shortly to prevent precipitation.

(2) Use a water pump to add the prepared nutrient solution from the nutrient solution tank to the tomato tree cultivation bed and form a circulation. Test whether the EC value and pH value of the nutrient solution meet the target value.

(3) Adjust the timer. To achieve automatic liquid addition, a timer can be installed at the power supply and connected to the water pump to control the time of switching the pump on and off. Determine the on and off time according to the growth of the seedlings and the season, and add liquid intermittently. The purpose of circulation is to increase the dissolved oxygen in the nutrient solution through circulation, while balancing the nutrients in the nutrient solution.

Tomato Planting

When the tomato seedlings grow to 5-6 leaves, they can be transplanted. Take the substrate tomato seedlings out of the tray (pot), wash the roots with clean water, and be careful not to damage the roots. Then transplant them into the planting holes of the cultivation board, and hang the base of the tomato stems on the cultivation rack with a thick rope. If it is a hydroponic tomato seedling, you can transplant it directly.

Nutrient solution management after tomato planting

The pH value of the nutrient solution is controlled at about 6.5, the EC value of the nutrient solution is controlled within 2.5-3.0ms/cm, the temperature of the nutrient solution is controlled within 18-20℃, and the nutrient solution circulation time is 10-20 hours per day. When the plants enter the flowering and fruiting stage, 50-100 grams of potassium sulfate are added per ton of nutrient solution per week.

Pruning

Tomato tree pruning is different from ordinary tomato pruning. Ordinary tomato pruning is single-stem pruning, and all side branches must be removed. Tomato tree pruning adopts continuous double-stem pruning, and each branch retains 2 growth points. All strong side branches that grow are retained, and only some weak side branches are removed. A tomato tree will have hundreds or thousands of growth points. The base of the side branches is pulled to the cultivation rack with ropes. The branches on the cultivation rack should also be evenly distributed in order without covering each other.

Spend time

If the tomato trees are planted for sightseeing, the one-time flower retention method can be adopted, that is, all the flowers that bloomed before the plant was placed on the cultivation rack should be removed, and all the flowers that bloomed after the plant was placed on the cultivation rack (100-120 days after sowing) should be retained. To ensure fruit setting, 20-40 mg/kg of chloranil can be used to spray the flowers. 4-5 fruits should be retained per ear of flowers.

Foliar spray

To increase the nutrient supply to the plants, spray fertilizer on the leaves every 7-10 days. Carbon dioxide can also be added where conditions permit.
