How to grow tomato sprouts

How to grow tomato sprouts

How do we make tomatoes sprout new shoots when we grow them?

1 Press the seedlings to promote new sprouts.

After the first generation of tomatoes mature and are harvested, cut off the dead branches and yellow leaves, keep the new branches with vigorous growth, and dig a 20 cm long and 15 cm deep fertilizer ditch on one side of the trunk for fertilization. After fertilization, bury the trunk in the ditch and water it to make it take root. In this way, the new roots and old roots can absorb water and fertilizer together, prompting the new branches to bloom and bear fruit as soon as possible.

2. Prune old branches to promote new growth.

After the first generation of tomatoes are harvested, cut off the dead old branches and leaves, then dig up the roots, fertilize and water them, which can promote new branches and make them grow quickly and bear fruit.

3. Layering promotes new sprouts.

After the tomato capping and fruiting period, leave 1 to 2 side branches growing from the bottom of the main branch. When the side branches grow to 24 to 26 cm, bend them toward the ground and fix them with soil layering strips. 2 to 3 leaflets are exposed at the top. Water them once after the side branches are fixed. The soil pressure area will breed a strong root system. After the tomato taproot prematurely withers. Immediately cut off the main branch from the upper part of the pressed side branch and strengthen management. The side branches will soon bloom and bear fruit.

4 Transplant the new tillering shoots.

Tomatoes are prone to secondary roots and can produce more tillering seedlings close to the ground. These tillering branches grow quickly after transplanting and usually bloom and bear fruit in 7 to 10 days. If the ground is dry, you can add soil and water around the trunk. When there are a few white spots on the roots of the tillering branches, you can transplant them and they will bloom and bear fruit quickly.
