I think some farmers and people are very worried about kidney bean diseases. Let’s learn about it together.

Kidney bean diseases

Kidney beans are the main crop grown in Zhoujia Village, Gucheng Street. For many years, kidney bean plant death, flower drop, and pod rot have seriously troubled vegetable farmers. How to overcome these three major obstacles and achieve a high yield and harvest of spring kidney beans has become a problem that Zhou Xinggang ponders every day. Zhou Xinggang has adopted three methods to deal with kidney bean plant death, flower drop, and pod rot, and achieved very ideal results.

Method 1: Apply bacterial fertilizer in holes or furrows to inhibit the infection of soil-borne diseases, promote the ability to grow new roots, and prevent plant death.

Anthracnose and Phytophthora root rot are the main causes of kidney bean plant death. In production, vegetable farmers often focus on chemical control, and only start using drugs after the disease occurs. Failure to prevent diseases and fail to use drugs in a timely and accurate manner are key factors leading to kidney bean plant death. On the one hand, although vegetable farmers pay one-sided attention to chemical control, there are drawbacks in the selection and use of drugs, and the phenomenon of plant death is still not well controlled.

The rational use of bacterial fertilizer is the most ideal prevention and control method. Before planting, 40-60 kg of the antibacterial 968 strong seedlings can be applied to holes or furrows per mu of greenhouse field to prevent the death of each seedling. Using the principle of using bacteria to inhibit bacteria to prevent root diseases can achieve twice the result with half the effort. The metabolites produced by beneficial bacteria during the reproduction process can also promote root growth. Therefore, this method is effective in preventing kidney bean from dying, and can also regulate growth and increase yield.

Method 2: Reasonably control the temperature in the greenhouse to ensure that the kidney beans set pods normally.

Excessive greenhouse temperature during flowering is the main cause of kidney bean flower drop in spring. According to the biological characteristics of kidney beans, temperature management after kidney beans are planted can be divided into three stages, that is, before flowering, the greenhouse temperature can be controlled at 23-28℃ during the day to maintain a high temperature and promote stem and vine development; during the flowering period, the greenhouse temperature can be controlled at 20-24℃ during the day, and it should not exceed 24℃ to prevent kidney bean flower drop caused by excessive temperature; during the pod-setting period, the greenhouse temperature can be increased and controlled at 25-30℃ during the day to facilitate the development of fruits and stems.

Method three: Pick flowers promptly, adjust humidity, and combine spraying and fumigation to prevent gray mold.

Botrytis cinerea is the main disease that causes pod rot in spring beans. Botrytis cinerea often starts to infect with dead flowers, so flowers should be removed in time after beans are set to prevent dead flowers from being infected with Botrytis cinerea and causing pod rot. Botrytis cinerea is prone to occur and develop in high humidity conditions, so ventilation and dehumidification should be strengthened after the temperature rises in spring to create an environment that is conducive to the growth of beans and unfavorable to the occurrence of diseases. Once botrytis cinerea occurs, it causes a large amount of spores, and it is difficult to spray thoroughly and thoroughly with a single spray, so a combination of fumigation and spraying should be used to prevent it.
