1. When cooking at home and making complementary foods, it is best to use iron or aluminum pots, shovels and cooking utensils, and do not use copper cooking utensils.

2. Although vegetables such as Chinese cabbage, cabbage, wild rice stem, bamboo shoots, potatoes, lotus roots, pumpkins, loofahs, and cucumbers have their own characteristics, their inorganic salt and vitamin content is lower than that of leafy vegetables. Mothers can choose more vegetables with relatively high vitamin C and inorganic salt content such as carrots, bitter gourds, tomatoes, and bell peppers, as well as green leafy vegetables for their babies to eat.

3. For babies aged 7 months, you can choose fresh legumes such as edamame, lentils, broad beans, and sword beans as complementary food. Because these vegetables are high in protein, and the iron in legumes is easily digested and absorbed by the body, it helps prevent anemia caused by the consumption of maternal iron storage after 4 months of birth. However, children with protein allergies should not eat them.

4. Try to stir-fry vegetables quickly over high heat. Do not take out the vegetables after cooking or squeeze out the juice before frying them in the pan, as most of the nutrients will be lost, leaving only the cellulose.

5. Some mothers like to make vegetable juice for their babies, but some vegetables contain oxalic acid, which will affect the baby's absorption of calcium. For example, spinach, Swiss chard, onion and other vegetables contain more oxalic acid and are not suitable for making soup. You can choose vegetables such as rapeseed, Chinese mustard, kale, etc., which have a relatively high calcium content and are easily absorbed by the body.

6. When blanching vegetables, wait until the water boils before putting the vegetables into the pot.

7. The vegetables selected should be as fresh as possible. Root vegetables should be washed before cutting. The time interval between washing and cutting and cooking should not be too long.

8. When cooking vegetables or other foods, you can add a small amount of starch, which can not only make the soup thicker, but also prevent ascorbic acid from being destroyed. Meat contains glutathione, which can also protect ascorbic acid. Therefore, when the baby is 7-8 months old, you can eat porridge, mashed noodles and other complementary foods made with chopped vegetables and minced meat.
