How to store rice How to store rice without insects

Rice is a common food in our daily life, and it has many different varieties. Rice, millet, black rice and glutinous rice are the most common rice ingredients. These ingredients are also a must-have at home. People often use them to cook porridge. However, these rices are particularly prone to insects in summer, which makes people very worried. So how should the rice at home be stored? How can they be stored without insects?

1. Anaerobic storage method

Rice is a food ingredient that will breathe during the storage process. When it breathes too frequently, it will easily deteriorate and become infested with insects. People can usually store it in an oxygen-free environment. The best way to preserve it is to dry the rice at home in a ventilated place, then put it into a sealable plastic bag, seal the mouth, and then place it directly in a cool place. The rice stored in this way will not deteriorate or become infested with insects.

2. How to preserve pepper

Sichuan peppercorns are a common condiment in life. They have a strong and special aroma. From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, this aroma has an obvious insect repellent effect. Using it to preserve rice can prevent insects. When preserving, you can fry the Sichuan peppercorns in a pan, take them out and cool them down, then wrap them with gauze and put them directly into a mud bucket without burying them.

3. Preserve with kelp

The rice at home is usually not easy to deteriorate or get infested with insects if stored with kelp, because kelp has a strong ability to absorb moisture and has certain insecticidal and antibacterial effects. When using kelp to store rice, you can mix it with the rice. Every ten days, take out the kelp, dry it in the sun, and then put it back.

4. Preservation of wood ash

Normally, rice is prone to deterioration and infestation of insects during storage because it absorbs water and becomes damp. Wood ash has strong water absorption capacity. You can put it in a gauze bag, place it at the bottom of the rice bucket, and then put the rice in it. Put it in a cool and ventilated place, which can also keep the rice from deteriorating and getting infested with insects for a long time.
