Fermented black bean porridge

Introduction to fermented black bean porridge

I often caught colds when I was a kid, and "fever, headache, and chills" became my "old friends." That was before liberation, when there was a shortage of doctors and medicines. At that time, many people had nowhere to go for medical treatment even if they were seriously ill, let alone a cold. Therefore, even a minor cold could only be delayed as long as possible, and it was impossible to go to the hospital for such a minor illness.

The mother is the one who is most concerned about her children's illness. My mother found a dietary recipe from somewhere that is more effective than injections and medication in treating colds. It is ginger and black bean porridge. The specific method is: 3 to 4 slices of ginger, and the amount of black bean should be enough to soak 1 bowl of rice porridge without feeling salty. First wash and mash the ginger, put it in a bowl with black bean and mix well, then pour the cooked and boiling rice porridge into it, and drink it while it is hot so that it is not too hot. Although these ingredients are all eaten regularly, it is strange that after drinking a bowl of porridge, all the cold symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose, and body aches are cured.

From then on, whenever I caught a cold, my mother would make me rice porridge with ginger and black beans, and my cold would be cured. For decades, this ginger and black bean porridge has become a traditional way for my family to treat colds. Later, I introduced this dietary therapy to my relatives, friends and colleagues, and they all said after eating it: "This dietary therapy not only saves money, but also cures diseases. It's great!"
