Diseases and control methods of cantaloupe

Muskmelon is a high-value cash crop, and many melon farmers like to grow it. However, during the planting process, it is found that cantaloupe often suffers from diseases. If not properly controlled, the quality of the cantaloupe will decline, and sometimes there will be a significant reduction in production, causing melon farmers to suffer serious economic losses. Some time ago, I made a special arrangement of cantaloupe diseases and prevention. Now I write them down and recommend that fruit farmers who want to grow cantaloupe take a look at them carefully.

Diseases and control of cantaloupe

1. Muskmelon mosaic virus disease

Muskmelon mosaic virus is a disease that often occurs in the growth process of muskmelon. Its most obvious manifestation is the appearance of yellow spots on the green leaves of muskmelon, the shrinkage of leaves, and the deformation of leaf vines. There are many ways to prevent this disease. The most common way is to disinfect seeds with drugs during planting and spray treatment with imidacloprid in the early stage of the disease.

2. Melon Anthracnose

Anthracnose of cantaloupe is also a common disease. When it occurs, water-soaked spots will appear on the cantaloupe seedlings near the ground. In severe cases, some spots will also appear on the leaves. These spots are mostly yellow-brown or reddish-brown. To prevent cantaloupe anthracnose, you can spray with 175% chlorothalonil or methyl thiophanate. In addition, rotating with non-melon crops can also reduce the occurrence of this anthracnose.

3. Muskmelon leaf blight

Muskmelon leaf blight is also very harmful to the melon. After the disease occurs, not only the leaves of the melon will wither, but also its fruit will wither or rot. If it is not prevented in time, it will spread over a large area. When preventing and controlling the leaf blight of the melon, you can use 50% of cypermethrin for spraying. Dilute the drug with clean water before spraying. Spray it once every week after spraying. The leaf blight control effect is obvious.
