Chestnut home eating methods and benefits

Many people know the benefits of chestnuts, but few people know that they can strengthen the spleen and stomach. Let’s now learn about this recipe.

In traditional Chinese medicine, seasonal nourishment is important in diet and health preservation. Chestnuts harvested in autumn are just right for winter consumption. Chestnut pulp is rich in vitamins and is a good tonic food. Chestnuts are sweet, warm, non-toxic, and enter the spleen, stomach, and kidneys. The pulp can benefit the kidney qi, strengthen the spleen and stomach, strengthen the waist and knees, strengthen the tendons and bones, and activate blood circulation, stop bleeding, and reduce swelling. When used raw, it can treat weakness in the waist and legs; the shell and bark have astringent effects; the fresh leaves can be used externally to treat skin inflammation; the flowers can treat scrofula and diarrhea; the roots can treat hernia.

Eat one or two raw chestnuts every morning and evening, chew them slowly. It will be effective in the long run (but eating too much will hinder digestion). It is suitable for the elderly with kidney deficiency, frequent urination, and weak waist and legs.

Chestnut paste: Grind chestnuts into powder, cook into paste, add appropriate amount of white sugar, suitable for treating diarrhea in young children.

Chestnut porridge

20-30g chestnut meat and 100g rice (or glutinous rice) are cooked into porridge and seasoned with appropriate amount of sugar. It can nourish the spleen and stomach, strengthen the tendons and nourish the kidneys. It is suitable for the elderly with kidney deficiency, backache, lower limb weakness, spleen deficiency and diarrhea.

Chestnut Pork Soup

250g chestnuts (shell removed) and 200g lean pork are cooked together and seasoned with salt and MSG. It has the effects of nourishing qi and blood, tonifying kidney and nourishing yin. It is suitable for people with weak constitution or chronic bronchitis in the elderly who have been repeatedly treated and have not been cured.

Chestnut and Poria Cocos Porridge

30 grams of chestnut meat, 12 grams of Poria cocos, 10 dates and 60 grams of rice are cooked together into porridge, seasoned with sugar and eaten to treat diarrhea caused by spleen and stomach deficiency and cold.

Chestnut and persimmon paste

15 grams of chestnut meat and half a persimmon cake, cook together, grind into a paste and eat it to treat diarrhea in children.

Chestnut Chicken

100g chicken, 5g ginger, 10g wolfberry, 15-20 chestnuts. Chop the whole chicken into inch pieces, select 100g boned meat, blanch it in boiling water, and put it into the soup pot. Then put wolfberry, chestnut, and ginger into the pot in turn, and pour in the appropriate amount of broth. After boiling over high heat, simmer for another hour. When serving, add salt, MSG, and chicken essence, and it is ready to eat.

Chicken can replenish qi and blood, and treat spleen and stomach weakness; ginger can induce sweating, dispel cold, stop vomiting and detoxify; wolfberry can nourish the kidney and essence, nourish the liver and improve eyesight; chestnuts can replenish qi and kidney, and have a therapeutic effect on loose stools. Chestnuts made into soup are beneficial to gastrointestinal absorption, avoiding the problem of chestnuts being hot and difficult to digest. This chestnut chicken soup has a good tonic effect on fatigue, shortness of breath, kidney deficiency and low back pain.

Chestnut and Walnut Porridge 50g chestnut and walnut kernels, 100g rice, 3g salt, 1g chicken stock. Shell the chestnuts and dice them, dice the walnut kernels, wash the rice and set aside. Put the pot on the fire, add an appropriate amount of water, boil it over high heat, add the washed rice, and cook it over medium heat for about 10 minutes. Take a purple casserole, pour the rice from the soup pot, simmer over low heat until the rice pops, then add the chestnuts and walnut kernels, simmer for another 20 minutes, add salt and chicken stock and mix well.

Chestnut and walnut porridge is suitable for early pregnancy, due to physical weakness, spleen and kidney deficiency caused by vaginal bleeding, dizziness, tinnitus, frequent urination, etc. But you should be careful not to eat too much at one time, otherwise it will easily hurt the spleen and stomach.

Tips

1. When purchasing chestnuts, choose chestnuts with brown shells, smooth surfaces, no worm holes, and semi-circular shapes.

2. You can cook the chestnuts in a pot, then rinse them with cold water before peeling them. This way it will be easier to peel out the complete chestnut kernels.

3. When cooking porridge, add enough water at one time, otherwise the taste will be worse.
