Figs can be eaten fresh or dried. They can clear away heat, detoxify, and reduce swelling, and they can also help to nourish the stomach, moisten the intestines, and clear toxins. They are also effective in treating sore throats. In addition, figs are said to contain an anti-cancer factor that can effectively prevent early cancer. Today, we will use fresh pears and dried figs to make a dessert that nourishes the yin and protects the throat.

How to make stewed pears with figs

1. Peel and core the pears, cut into pieces, put them into a stew pot together with figs and rock sugar, and add purified water to cover the pears.

2. Cover the stew pot, put water in the pot, pour in clean water (about halfway up the stew pot), bring to a boil over high heat, then simmer over low heat for 40-60 minutes. Turn off the heat and serve when the food is cool enough to not burn your mouth.

(1) Strengthen the spleen and aid digestion, moisten the intestines and promote bowel movements. Figs contain malic acid, citric acid, lipase, protease, hydrolase, etc., which can help the body digest food and promote appetite. Because they contain a variety of lipids, they have the effect of moistening the intestines and promoting bowel movements.

(2) Lowering blood lipids and blood pressure. The lipase and hydrolase contained in figs have the function of lowering blood lipids and decomposing blood lipids. Therefore, they can lower blood lipids and reduce the deposition of fat in blood vessels, thereby playing a role in lowering blood pressure and preventing coronary heart disease.

(3) Relieve sore throat and reduce swelling. Figs contain citric acid, fumaric acid, succinic acid, malic acid, propionic acid, oxalic acid, quinic acid and other substances, which have anti-inflammatory and swelling-reducing effects and can relieve sore throat and reduce swelling.

(4) Nutritional supplement. Figs contain a large amount of sugars, lipids, proteins, cellulose, vitamins, inorganic salts and essential amino acids for the human body, which can effectively supplement the body's nutrients and enhance the body's disease resistance.

(5) Anti-cancer and anti-tumor. The serum of the unripe fruit contains active ingredients such as psoralen and bergapten. The juice of the ripe fruit can be extracted from an aromatic substance called "benzaldehyde". Both have anti-cancer and anti-tumor effects, can prevent the occurrence of liver cancer, lung cancer, and gastric cancer, delay the development of transplanted adenocarcinoma and lymphosarcoma, and promote their degeneration.
