Peach planting

I believe everyone is familiar with peaches, right? But how much do you know about this fruit? Let me tell you about it.

Morphological characteristics of peaches

The ripe peach is slightly spherical, with a layer of fine fuzz on the surface, green with white and red. A peach generally weighs 100 to 200 grams, and a large one weighs more than 300 grams. The peach skin is very thin, the flesh is rich, suitable for raw consumption, and smooth without residue. The freshly ripe peach is hard and sweet, while the ripe peach is soft and juicy. When eating, it is advisable to pick it up gently and carefully peel off the skin; its taste can probably be compared with the peaches of the Queen Mother. Such fruits are rare summer treasures for the elderly and people with bad teeth. The remaining core is the seed of the peach, the shell is long and flat, with slightly pointed ends, and the surface is bumpy and hard. The core is composed of two pieces, and the peach kernel can be seen when it is cracked. Peach kernels can be eaten and used as medicine. Plant the peach core in the soil, it will first grow a germ, burst the shell, and gradually grow into a sapling.

Peaches need to be planted in the appropriate season

Peach seedlings break out of the ground in spring and are grafted in the plum season. Pick the tender shoots of the peach tree of the variety you need and graft them onto the peach seedlings. After ten days and a half, the grafted buds will turn green and survive. At this time, remove the other buds and let the grafted buds grow up. They can be transplanted in the spring of the second year, and generally they can bloom and bear fruit in three years. Peach trees are deciduous trees with smooth branches and narrow leaves. The bark contains a kind of glue called peach gum, which can be used for stone eggs and can also be used to make Chinese medicine. In March and April every year, the peach orchard is crimson. Looking from a high place, the peach orchard is like a giant pink carpet spread on the beautiful earth, adding a lot of spring colors to the surrounding mountains and waters; looking closely, peach blossoms are blooming one after another. At this time, people are busy in the garden to deworm the peach trees and pollinate the peach blossoms. In mid-to-late April, the peach blossoms gradually withered, leaving small hairy peaches on the trunks. When the peaches grow to the size of a walnut, they should be pruned so that only one to three healthy peaches remain on each branch. At the same time, basal fertilizer should be applied according to the fruiting situation of the peach trees to ensure that the peaches get enough nutrients. Then, peach bags are used to wrap the green peaches covered with thick white hair. This has two advantages. First, it can avoid direct exposure to the sun, so that the peaches will not be affected when they are ripe. Second, it can prevent insects and birds from pecking at them. The peaches grow quietly inside. By June or July, the peach bags are already bulging. Now is the time for people to harvest. Walking into the peach orchard, a refreshing peach fragrance hits your nose, making you salivate before you even eat it.

Historical Records on Peach

Peaches are native to China. As far back as the 10th century BC, some literature at the time recorded texts about peaches. The earliest discovery of peaches in Western countries was around 300 BC, when a Greek philosopher, Theophrastus, believed that peaches came from Persia, so he called them Persian (Iranian) apples. In the first century, Romans mentioned that they imported peaches from Persia, so it was assumed that peaches arrived in Europe in 0 AD. As for Britain, there were no records of peaches until 1650 AD. As for the English peach, Peach comes from the Latin prunus persica. In 1779, peaches were harvested in the mountains of the Niagara River Basin in the northeastern United States and became the earliest peach consumer product in the United States.
