Origin and variety of peaches

Origin and variety of peaches

The most popular fruit in the supermarket is peach. I heard that peach is the most nutritious fruit.

Peach

People often say "Peaches nourish people", which means that eating peaches is good for health. This is mainly because peaches are mild in nature and high in nutritional value. Eating two peaches a day can help with bowel movements, delay aging, and improve immune function. As the best peach, juicy peaches are very popular among people.

The peach is juicy, soft, sweet and fragrant. The flesh is rich in sucrose, glucose, fructose, vitamin C and other nutrients, and is considered a treasure among peaches in my country. The skin of the peach is very thin, suitable for eating raw, and smooth without residue. Freshly ripe peaches are hard and sweet, while fully ripe peaches are soft and juicy. When eating, you should pick them up gently and carefully peel off the skin. Its taste can probably be compared with the peaches of the Queen Mother. Such fruits are rare summer treasures for the elderly and people with bad teeth.

Peaches were originally grown in my country, and there were related written records before the 10th century BC. The earliest peaches were discovered in Western countries around 300 BC.

Origin

Honey peaches are native to Shaanxi and Gansu in my country. They are widely distributed, with the main production areas being Hebei, Shandong, Beijing, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan, Gansu, Zhejiang and other provinces and cities. Among them, the Yangshan area of Taihu Lake in the Jiangnan water town is the most famous peach production area.

Growth environment

Peaches love light, are drought-tolerant, and have strong cold resistance. Temperature is the most important factor affecting the distribution of peach trees. In the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia region, southern Xinjiang, and Jilin in northeast China, frost damage is prone to occur when the winter temperature is below -23 to -25°C, and early spring late frost damage also occurs from time to time. In areas in the south where the average temperature exceeds 10°C in the three months of winter, most varieties have delayed leaf fall and enter dormancy, and sprout very late in the following spring, flowering is uneven, and yield is reduced. In addition, peach trees are most afraid of waterlogging, and flooding for 24 hours will cause the death of the plant.

Therefore, it is ideal to choose sandy, slightly acidic soil with good drainage and deep soil layer for planting.

variety

There are many varieties of peaches, such as Da Baifeng, Xiao Baifeng, Hujing, etc. According to the maturity period, peaches can be divided into early peaches and late peaches. The early peach matures in June, and the late peach matures in July and August.
