Key points of strawberry seedling propagation technology

The price of strawberries is very good, and our farmers like to grow them. So how should strawberry seedlings be propagated? Let's learn about it together.

1. Site selection

The seedling breeding field should be selected from a slightly acidic plot that has good water and fertilizer retention, convenient irrigation and drainage, and high soil fertility, has not been used to grow strawberries or Solanaceae crops.

1 Before land preparation, apply 2000-3000 kg of high-quality well-rotted farmyard manure per mu, and then add 3% 3 kg of ground splitting tiger granules per mu, mix evenly with the farmyard manure and spread it, plow into the tillage layer to prevent and control underground pests. After rotary tillage, make double-bedded soil of 2.3 meters and single-bedded soil of 1 meter, leaving a 30-centimeter aisle in the middle, and the ditch width and depth are 30 cm each.

3 Planting time

Planting should be done from late March to mid-April. Planting too late will reduce the number of seedlings. Plant one row per soil. Before planting, spray 75% chlorothalonil 600-800 times liquid once to prevent diseases, remove old leaves and inflorescences, keep three compound leaves, and plant with soil as much as possible to prevent root damage. Planting depth should be such that the base of the heart leaf is flush with the soil surface, so that the heart is not buried deep and the roots are not exposed shallowly. Press down by hand after planting.

4 Planting density

One row is planted in each soil, with 800-1000 plants per acre.

5 Planting field management

5.1 Strengthened fertilizer and water management After planting, water thoroughly to allow the roots to take root. Water continuously for 2-3 times to keep the soil moist for survival. When the rainy season comes, pay attention to drainage. After the plants are planted and survive, use 5 kg of urea per mu to raise the seedlings. When the plants enter the vigorous growth period (stolon formation period), apply 1-2 times of triple compound fertilizer. The amount used per mu each time should be controlled at 5-8 kg. Avoid high nitrogen.

5.2 Remove inflorescences, old leaves, and diseased leaves After the strawberry seedlings are planted, remove the buds and inflorescences on the mother plant frequently to concentrate nutrients, promote the vegetative growth of the mother plant and the emergence of runners. Also remove old and diseased leaves frequently to facilitate ventilation and light transmission of the plants, and promote the healthy growth of the mother plant and the seedlings.

5.3 Arrangement of runners After the mother plant is planted, it is necessary to check the field frequently and keep a certain distance between the runners. When a large number of runners occur, pull the runners close to each other apart to make them evenly distributed, and prevent them from crossing or overlapping. At the same time, in order to make the adventitious roots on the runner nodes penetrate into the soil in time, use soil to press the adventitious rhizome segments on the runners.

5.4 Intertillage and weeding Strawberries are sensitive to herbicides, so use them with caution. Generally, manual weeding is safe. From the time the mother plant is planted to the time the runners appear, the soil is prone to compaction due to frequent irrigation. Shallow weeding and intertillage should be used to loosen the soil to facilitate the rooting of the seedlings. The runners appear during the rainy season when weeds grow frequently, so weeds should be removed frequently.

5.5 Pest and disease control Common pests in strawberry seedlings are
