I went to Hainan some time ago, and saw the coconuts hanging on the trees there. They were so tempting. However, as a foreigner, I didn’t know how to eat these fresh coconuts. So during my stay in Hainan, I learned many ways to eat fresh coconuts from the locals. Now I have time to write them down so that those who don’t understand coconuts can also understand how to eat fresh coconuts.

How to eat fresh coconut

1. After buying fresh coconut, you should first use a knife to remove its shell. When removing the shell, cut it along the fibers one by one. After removing the shell, you can see three small holes on the coconut, and two of the three small holes look the same, and one is different. At this time, you can take a tube and insert it into the different small hole, and then suck the sweet and tempting coconut juice into your mouth.

2. After drinking the coconut juice, put the coconut on the panel and knock it hard a few times to open its shell. The white coconut meat can be exposed. This kind of coconut meat can be eaten directly, and the taste is similar to that of peanuts. You can also put the coconut meat into a food processor, add some water to squeeze it into juice, remove the residue, add sugar and drink it. This is homemade coconut milk, which has a strong coconut aroma and high nutritional value.

3. Boiling chicken with coconut is also a very special way to eat it. You can take out the coconut juice and put it into the pot, add the processed native chicken, and then simmer it on low heat after boiling. After half an hour, add the coconut meat and simmer until the chicken is soft before adding salt for seasoning. Finally, simmer for a while before eating. This kind of coconut boiled chicken has no other seasonings except salt and coconut. It has a sweet taste when eaten and is a special dish that can beautify the skin.
