Sapodilla and its cultivation technology

What is Sapodilla

The sapodilla is a special plant native to South America. Because its fruit is very similar to the human heart, it is named the sapodilla. In recent years, this special plant that grows in the tropics has also been introduced to China. Guangdong, Fujian and other regions have become its important production areas in China. The sapodilla has many uses. The fruit can be eaten, and the fruit tree can also be used for viewing and as wood. It is an excellent tree species that can improve the ecological environment.

Cultivation technology of sapodilla

1. The sapodilla can only bloom and bear fruit and grow normally when the outside temperature is between 11 and 30 degrees. If the temperature drops below zero, its fruit will be frozen. When the temperature reaches minus four degrees, the entire sapodilla tree will be frozen, so this plant can only be planted in areas with higher average temperatures.

2. The cultivation of sapodilla seedlings can be divided into two types: high-altitude layering and grafted seedlings. High-altitude layering is suitable for March and April each year. It is best to choose branches with a thickness of about two centimeters when layering seedlings. In addition, it is best to choose Aiduoshou and compound fertilizer mixed with water and then pressed. This can greatly improve the survival rate of new seedlings. Grafted seedlings should be carried out in mid-May each year. The survival rate of branches after grafting is the highest here, and drugs should be used in time after grafting to prevent the occurrence of diseases and insect pests.

3. The sapodilla fruit matures mostly in June and July every year. The ripe fruits should be picked in time to avoid affecting the quality of the fruits due to untimely picking. In addition, the fruits cannot be eaten directly after picking. It is best to store them for four to seven days before eating them, so that you can taste their delicious and juicy taste.
