How to plant potted water lilies? Cultivation methods of potted water lilies

In the eyes of many people, water lily is an aquatic plant with extremely high ornamental value. In fact, this plant can also be made into a potted plant and cultivated at home, and the cultivation method is not complicated. If you like this plant, you can take a look at my detailed introduction to its potted cultivation method below. After learning it, you can cultivate beautiful water lilies at home.

How to grow potted water lilies

1. Soil

When growing water lilies in potted plants, the choice of soil is very important. Water lilies like fertile sticky loam with a high humus content, but if the soil is too sticky, it will affect its growth. If the soil is too sticky, it will be bad for root development. Therefore, when growing water lilies, you should choose lake pond mud. You can also mix four parts of garden soil with three parts of loess and three parts of sandy soil and use it after mixing evenly.

2. Lighting conditions

Sunlight is one of the important conditions when people grow potted water lilies. This plant has a strong light absorption capacity and it needs 7 to 8 hours of full sunlight every day. Only in this way can the number of its flower buds increase and its flowering period be longer. If it is placed in a cool environment, it will delay flowering or not bloom at all.

3. Temperature regulation

Temperature regulation is also very important when growing potted water lilies. This plant has strict requirements on temperature. Most of them will begin to sprout when the outside temperature reaches about 8 to 10 degrees. At 14 degrees, the lotus stems will begin to elongate. Until the outside temperature reaches 25 to 30 degrees, the growth and development of the water lily will proceed rapidly. So if you want to grow potted water lilies well, it is best to place them in a warm environment of 25 to 30 degrees.

4. Apply fertilizer in time

Potted water lily is a fertilizer-loving plant. It must be fertilized in time during the cultivation period. One month after planting, you can apply decomposed cake fertilizer water and human feces and urine with a concentration of about 10%. After it is established, apply fertilizer 1 to 2 times more. After entering the flowering period, it is necessary to apply phosphorus fertilizer once every seven days. This will make the water lily flowers large and bright in color.
