How to plant lilacs? How to plant lilac seeds

Lilac is a very beautiful ornamental plant with a strong fragrance, a long flowering period, and high utilization value. Many people usually want to plant more of it, but some people don’t know how to plant it after getting the lilac seeds. Today, the editor will talk about this issue specifically for everyone.

How to plant lilac seeds

1. Planting time

Normally, lilac seeds can be planted in spring or autumn. Northern China is particularly suitable for spring sowing, which should be carried out in late March each year, and when the ambient temperature reaches between 10 and 22 degrees, seedlings will emerge 14 to 25 days after sowing, and the germination rate can exceed 50%.

2. Seeding environment

Lilac is an ornamental plant suitable for growing in subtropical and temperate zones. When people sow lilac, they should choose sunny and fertile land. Its seeds have strong vitality, are not demanding on soil, and have good resistance to barrenness. However, its germination rate is highest when it is sown in fertile, loose, and well-drained land.

3. Seed treatment

The seeds of lilac have a relatively hard shell. Before sowing them, they should be placed in the sand in a low temperature environment. This will soften the shell and shorten the germination time after sowing. If you are planting on a large scale, you can choose to sow in furrows, but you must pay attention when starting work, and pay attention to the plant spacing when bending over to sow.

4. Management

After sowing lilac seeds, you must pay attention to the regulation of environmental temperature and light. Only in a warm environment with sufficient sunlight can lilac seeds germinate quickly. After sowing, you must water them thoroughly in time. After the lilac seeds germinate and grow 3 to 4 tender leaves, you can transplant them directly. After transplanting, the lilac flowers need to go through a one to ten day seedling growth period. During this period, they cannot be placed under strong light, otherwise the survival rate will be relatively low.
