Cultivation methods and techniques of star anise hydrangea

Cultivation methods and techniques of star anise hydrangea

In nature, we can often see beautiful landscapes formed by large areas of hydrangea. Its bright colors and rich fragrance always attract people's attention. In fact, this plant can also be made into potted plants and grown at home, but you must have a correct understanding of its cultivation methods, otherwise there will always be problems during the cultivation period. The following is my detailed introduction to its cultivation methods. If you like this plant, you can focus on learning it.

1. Prepare the culture soil

It is particularly important to prepare the culture soil when cultivating Hydrangea anise. It likes loose, fertile and well-drained sandy soil, and the flower color is obviously affected by the pH value of the soil. If the culture soil is acidic, the flowers will be blue. If the culture soil is alkaline, the flowers will be mostly red.

2. Lighting conditions

When growing Hydrangea anise, light conditions are particularly important. This plant is a short-day plant and requires moderate sunlight during its growth period. It must not be placed in direct sunlight, especially after entering summer. It must be shaded in time, otherwise its leaves and flowers will fall off in large numbers, affecting its ornamental value.

3. Water moderately

When it comes to growing Hydrangea octagonalis, watering is also something that requires special attention. It has strict requirements for water. Normally, you just need to keep the culture soil moist. Do not water it too much. Also, pay attention to drainage after entering the rainy season. Never allow water to accumulate in the flowerpot, otherwise its roots will rot and the leaves will turn yellow and fall off.

4. Fertilization and pruning

The plant of star anise hydrangea does not require much fertilizer. It only needs to be fertilized before it blooms in June and July each year, and more phosphorus fertilizer can be applied when fertilizing, which can not only promote flowering but also prolong the flowering period. During the cultivation of star anise hydrangea, it is also necessary to pay attention to pruning, especially to cut off its flower stems in time after its flowers wither, so as to promote the growth of new branches and allow it to bloom more beautiful flowers.
