Orchids are ornamental plants that many people like, and they are also one of the endemic plants in China. They are usually suitable for indoor cultivation. They can be made into potted plants or cultivated in water. However, people don’t know much about orchids in water, and don’t know what to pay attention to when cultivating them in water. Today, I will share with you the specific methods of orchids in water and the things that need to be paid attention to during the cultivation process. Those of you who like to cultivate orchids can focus on understanding them. Farming methods1. Handling orchids When you want to grow orchids in water, you should dig the orchid out of the soil, then wash off the soil at its roots with clean water, and then cut off the old and rotten roots, leaving only its fibrous roots. At the same time, you should also clean up all the diseased leaves of the orchid, leaving only its healthy young leaves, and keep the leaves intact without causing any damage. 2. Vase selection When growing orchids in water, the choice of vase is also very important. It can be divided into peat vases, porcelain vases and glass vases. Some of these vases are transparent, some are opaque, and some are translucent. However, the root system of orchids is very beautiful, and the roots can also be viewed when grown in water. Therefore, transparent glass vases should be selected for water-grown orchids. 3. Prepare nutrient solution When growing orchids in water, you cannot simply use clean water to grow orchids. You should prepare a nutrient solution. When preparing the nutrient solution, you should prepare 1.8 grams of calcium nitrate, 0.18 grams of ammonium sulfate, 0.62 grams of potassium dihydrogen phosphate, 0.54 grams of magnesium sulfate, and 0.02 grams of ferrous sulfate. After dissolving them, dilute them into about one liter of water, mix them well, and then pour them directly into the vase. Then put the treated orchid into the vase and let the roots soak in the nutrient solution. PrecautionsAlthough orchids can be grown in water, there are many things that require special attention during the cultivation process, especially adding water or replacing the nutrient solution every seven days or so, otherwise the orchid will grow slowly due to malnutrition. In addition, when growing orchids in water, it is also important to note that its roots cannot all enter the nutrient solution, and about 1/4 should be left above the water, so that the roots can breathe better and are conducive to the healthy growth of orchids. |
