How to grow gardenia? What should I pay attention to when growing gardenia?

I like gardenia very much, and I also like to listen to He Jiong's song "Gardenia Blossoms", which is a very nice song. Gardenia will emit bursts of fragrance, so how to grow gardenia? And what are the precautions? Let's take a look!

How to grow gardenia

1. Soil requirements

Gardenia prefers slightly acidic soil, and the soil pH should be controlled between 4.0-6.5. Therefore, you must pay attention to the choice of soil, which is very important for the growth of gardenia.

2. Suitable growth temperature requirements

The best growth temperature for gardenia is between 16℃ and 18℃. Temperatures above 18℃ or below 16℃ are not good for the growth of gardenia, so it is recommended to grow it in a well-ventilated room in summer and winter.

3. Sufficient water

Gardenia likes warm and humid environment with plenty of sunshine, so it needs plenty of water. In addition, the humidity of the air is also very important. When watering the gardenia, you should also spray some water on the leaves of the gardenia to increase the humidity of the air.

4. Adequate lighting time

Gardenias need the right amount of light. In spring and autumn, they need more light exposure. In summer and winter, they are recommended to be grown indoors.

5. Appropriate fertilization

In order to meet the demand for fertilizer during the growth period of gardenia, it is recommended to apply fertilizers such as bean cake, sesame paste residue, peanut bran, etc. once every half a month, which is also conducive to the flowers blooming more and more vigorously;

6. Pay attention to pruning

Gardenias are most likely to have overlapping branches and densely packed with air, so proper pruning is required to promote their growth and remove other branches that sprout from root suckers.

Gardenia precautions

Gardenia pest control

Gardenias can be susceptible to chlorosis, leaf spot and scale insects, which are most serious in summer when the weather is hot and humid, and fungal infections can induce diseases and insect pests. Once discovered, spray disinfectants in time and isolate them from other plants to avoid infection.
