The difference between cappuccino and latte

Coffee has now become an indispensable drink for people every day, but coffee is also a huge family. It has many different varieties. Cappuccino and latte are the two most popular coffees in life, and they have many similarities. Some people who don’t know much about coffee don’t know what the difference is between them. Today I will focus on introducing this knowledge so that everyone can understand the difference between cappuccino and latte.

The difference between cappuccino and latte

1. Difference in ingredients

Although cappuccino and latte are both coffee, the ingredients used in their brewing are different. Although cappuccino and latte are brewed with coffee powder, purified water and milk, the ingredients are not the same. After brewing, the ratio of coffee liquid to milk foam in cappuccino should be 1:1, while the amount of milk foam in latte will not exceed 10% of the total coffee.

2. Difference in appearance

There is also a clear difference in appearance between cappuccino and latte. Because it is difficult to see clearly, after this type of coffee is brewed, the milk foam will be much higher than the rim of the cup, and it looks particularly full and smooth in appearance. The coffee liquid inside will not overflow out of the cup when you shake it left and right. However, after latte is brewed, there is only a thin layer of milk foam on its surface, and most of the time the milk foam will only be flush with the rim of the cup.

3. Difference in taste

There is also a clear difference in taste between cappuccino and latte. Cappuccino has a thick and dense taste with a stronger coffee flavor, while latte has a lighter milk flavor but a full coffee flavor. It is a relatively strong coffee, close to the original flavor of coffee. Those who drink coffee regularly will find the difference between cappuccino and latte as long as they taste it carefully.

4. Different cups

The cups used for brewing cappuccino and latte are also different. Cappuccino is usually brewed in a shorter coffee cup with a wider mouth, while latte is usually brewed in a taller transparent glass cup with a smaller mouth. There is also a certain difference in the drinking time of cappuccino and latte. In most European countries, cappuccino is a morning drink, while latte is usually drunk as afternoon tea.
