Corn nutritional value and nutritional content

Corn nutritional value and nutritional content

Corn has certain nutritional value, so today I will tell you about it in detail:

1. High available energy.

The metabolic energy of corn is 14.06MJ/kg, and the highest can reach 15.06MJ/kg, which is the highest among cereal feeds. This is mainly because there is very little crude fiber in corn, only 2%; while the nitrogen-free extract is as high as 72%, and the digestibility can reach 90%; on the other hand, the crude fat content of corn is high, between 3.5% and 4.5%. Corn is an annual grass plant, also known as corn, cob, six grains, etc. According to research and determination, every 100 grams of corn contains 106 kcal of calories, 2.9 grams of cellulose, 4.0 grams of protein, 1.2 grams of fat, 22.8 grams of carbohydrates, and mineral elements and vitamins. Corn contains more crude fiber, which is 4-10 times higher than refined rice and refined flour. Corn also contains a lot of magnesium, which can strengthen the peristalsis of the intestinal wall and promote the excretion of waste from the body. The above ingredients and functions of corn are very beneficial for weight loss. The corn silk of the mature corn ear has a diuretic effect and is also beneficial for weight loss. Corn can be boiled into soup instead of tea, or it can be crushed and made into corn flour, corn cakes, etc. The puffed popcorn is very large in size, and eating it can eliminate the hunger of obese people, but it contains very low calories after eating, and it is also one of the substitutes for weight loss.

2. High content of linoleic acid.

Corn has a linoleic acid content of 2%, the highest among all cereal feeds. If corn is included in the diet at a rate of 50% or more, corn alone can meet the linoleic acid requirement (1%) of pigs and chickens.

3. Protein

The content is low and the quality is poor. The protein content of corn is about 8.6%, and the amino acids are unbalanced, with insufficient content of lysine, tryptophan and methionine.

4. Minerals

About 80% of minerals are present in the embryo, with calcium content being very low, about 0.02%; phosphorus containing about 0.25%, but about 63% of it is in the form of phytic acid phosphorus, which has a very low utilization rate for monogastric animals. The content of other mineral elements is also low.

5. Vitamins

Among fat-soluble vitamins, vitamin E is more abundant, about 20 mg/kg. Yellow corn contains more carotene, but almost no vitamin D and K. Among water-soluble vitamins, thiamine is more abundant, while riboflavin and niacin are less abundant, and niacin exists in a bound form.

6. Lutein

The average lutein content in yellow corn is 22 mg/kg, which is one of the characteristics of yellow corn. It is important for coloring the yolk, shin, claws and other parts.

Modern research has confirmed that corn is rich in unsaturated fatty acids, especially linoleic acid, which has a content of more than 60%. It works synergistically with vitamin E in corn germ to reduce blood cholesterol concentration and prevent it from depositing on the blood vessel wall. Therefore, corn has a certain preventive and therapeutic effect on coronary heart disease, atherosclerosis, hyperlipidemia and hypertension. Vitamin E can also promote human cell division and delay aging. Corn also contains a longevity factor-glutathione, which, with the participation of selenium, produces glutathione oxidase, which has the function of restoring youth and delaying aging. The selenium and magnesium contained in corn have anti-cancer and anti-cancer effects. Selenium can accelerate the decomposition of peroxides in the body, so that malignant tumors cannot get the supply of molecular oxygen and are inhibited. Magnesium can also inhibit the development of cancer cells on the one hand, and on the other hand, it can promote the excretion of waste from the body, which is also of great significance for cancer prevention. The glutamic acid it contains has a certain brain-building function.

A study by the German Nutrition and Health Association shows that among all staple foods, corn has the highest nutritional value and health benefits.

It can prevent heart disease and cancer. In this one-year study, experts compared the nutritional value and health-care effects of corn, rice, wheat and other staple foods. The results showed that corn has a very high vitamin content, 5-10 times that of rice and wheat.

At the same time, experts are also surprised by the large amount of nutritional and health substances contained in corn. In addition to carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and carotene, corn also contains isomaltooligosaccharides, riboflavin, vitamins and other nutrients. These substances are very beneficial for preventing diseases such as heart disease and cancer.

Research also shows that the nutritional value of special corn is higher than that of ordinary corn. For example, the content of protein, vegetable oil and vitamins in sweet corn is 1-2 times higher than that of ordinary corn; the content of selenium, a "life element", is 8-10 times higher; and 13 of the 17 amino acids it contains are higher than those in ordinary corn. In addition, the moisture, active substances, vitamins and other nutrients of fresh corn are much higher than those of mature corn, because the nutrient content of corn will drop rapidly during storage.

7. Contains 7 kinds of "anti-aging agents"

Professor Rahman, a famous German nutritionist who is in charge of this study, pointed out that among the more than 50 most effective nutritional health substances that have been proven today, corn contains 7 kinds of them - calcium, glutathione, vitamins, magnesium, selenium, vitamin E and fatty acids. It has been determined that every 100 grams of corn can provide nearly 300 mg of calcium, which is almost the same as the calcium contained in dairy products. Rich calcium can lower blood pressure. If you take 1 gram of calcium every day, your blood pressure can be reduced by 9% after 6 weeks. In addition, the carotene contained in corn can be converted into vitamin A after being absorbed by the human body, which has an anti-cancer effect; plant cellulose can accelerate the discharge of carcinogens and other poisons; natural vitamin E has the function of promoting cell division, delaying aging, lowering serum cholesterol, preventing skin lesions, and can also reduce arteriosclerosis and brain function decline. Researchers pointed out that the progesterone and zeaxanthin contained in corn can fight against eye aging. In addition, eating more corn can also inhibit the side effects of anti-cancer drugs on the human body, stimulate brain cells, and enhance people's brain power and memory.

Using high-tech bioengineering technology, corn starch sugar is deeply processed to extract the nutrients of corn - high-energy oligosaccharides. Isomaltooligosaccharide is the most excellent variety of high-energy oligosaccharides. It is a deep-processed product of starch sugar. The processing technology is decolorization, ion exchange and concentration under high temperature and high pressure. First, it provides nutrients needed by the human body; second, it helps the rapid reproduction of beneficial bacteria in the human body and enhances resistance. It is especially helpful for the health of intestinal flora.

Corn is a good health product among coarse grains (such as Lijian), which is very beneficial to human health: the vitamin B6, niacin and other ingredients in corn have the characteristics of stimulating gastrointestinal motility and accelerating fecal excretion, and can prevent and treat constipation, enteritis, and intestinal cancer. Corn is rich in vitamin C, isomaltooligosaccharides, etc., which have the effects of longevity and beauty. The nutrients contained in the corn germ tip can enhance human metabolism and adjust the function of the nervous system. It can make the skin tender and smooth, and inhibit and delay the formation of wrinkles. Corn has the effects of regulating the appetite and lowering blood lipids and serum cholesterol. The fact that Indians in Central America are not prone to high blood pressure is related to the fact that they mainly eat corn.
