What are the common diseases of lentils and how to prevent and control them?

When we cultivate lentils, we will definitely encounter various diseases. So how can we better prevent and control them at this time? Here are some methods for you:

⑴Rust.

The main damage is to the leaves. When the leaves are infected, small yellow-white spots will appear, which are slightly raised and then gradually expand to become rust-brown raised spots. The factors that induce the disease are high temperature and high humidity. Generally, the peak period of the disease is from July to August.

The prevention and control method is to remove the diseased and residual plants in the field and burn them in batches. You can use 500 times diluted 65% mancozeb wettable powder, 1000 times diluted 70% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder or 800-1000 times diluted 50% carbendazim wettable powder for prevention and control.

⑵Leaf spot disease.

Initially, purple-brown spots appear on both sides of the leaves, which then expand into round shapes, with dark green or dark brown moldy substances growing on the surface of the spots. The disease is more likely to occur under high temperature and high humidity conditions, and the disease is more severe in continuous cropping than in rotational cropping, and is also more severe when ventilation and light transmission are poor.

The prevention and control method is to increase the application of potassium fertilizer to improve the disease resistance of the plants. In the early stage of the disease, spray 70% methyl thiophanate wettable powder 1000 times or 50% carbendazim wettable powder 1000 times, spray once every 7-10 days, and spray 2-3 times continuously.

⑶Aphids.

Just spray with 10% 2500 times diluted solution.

⑷Bean pod borer and bean armyworm.

Both of these pests are borers and must be controlled with pesticides before they become third-instar larvae.

The prevention and control method is to spray 800 times diluted 80% DDT emulsion, 1000 times diluted biological pesticide insecticide benzene or 800 times diluted NPV, all of which have good prevention effects.
