Geranium cultivation and management methods

Geranium is an ornamental plant that many people like. It can be made into potted plants and placed at home, or used to decorate flower beds. Geranium has bright colors and attractive fragrance. It can beautify the environment and purify the air. But how should geraniums be cultivated? How should they be managed in normal times? Today, the editor will talk about these issues for you.

Geranium cultivation and management methods

1. How to grow geranium

When geranium is potted, the potting soil should be a proper amount of leaf mold and a small amount of sandy soil with a small amount of bone meal. The pot should be changed once a year, and new nutrient soil should be used when changing pots. In addition, geranium is a plant that likes fertilizer. When it is in its peak growth season, it should be fertilized once a week. It is best to choose diluted cake fertilizer when fertilizing.

2. Water management of geranium

During the growth period of geranium, special attention should be paid to the water supply. Under normal circumstances, it should be watered after the tips of its leaves wilt, and it must be watered thoroughly when watering. In addition, geraniums will stop growing from mid-June to August each year. At this time, the number of watering must be reduced, otherwise water will accumulate in the flowerpot, and in severe cases, the roots of the geraniums will rot and die.

3. Pruning of geraniums

Geraniums also need to be pruned in time during the cultivation period. They grow fast and need to be pruned two to three times a year. The first time should be done in March, and this pruning is mainly for thinning branches. The second time should be done in May. When pruning, the withered flowers should be removed and the overly dense branches should also be removed. The last time should be done after the beginning of autumn, and this pruning is mainly for shaping.
