How to store rice without insects

Rice is a must-have ingredient for every household and an important raw material for people to cook porridge. However, people must pay attention to the storage of rice after purchasing it, otherwise it will easily become moldy or infested with insects. So how should rice be stored at home? How can it be stored so that it does not get infested with insects?

How to store rice

After people buy various rice ingredients, they can store them in a low-temperature environment. The refrigerator at home is the best choice for storing rice ingredients. You can usually put it in the refrigerator, or you can put it in a fresh-keeping bag and put it directly into the freezer of the refrigerator. Take it out directly when eating. The rice stored in this way will not only not deteriorate or get worms, but will also taste much better.

How to store rice without insects

1. Remove the rice bran

When storing rice, you can remove the rice bran before storing it, because rice bran is easy to become sticky and easy to breed insects. After purchasing rice ingredients, people can sift it, remove the fine bran, and then store it in a ventilated place to prevent insects and deterioration.

2. Store in sealed containers

If rice is stored in a sealed container, it will not get infested with insects or spoil. The method of sealing it at home is very simple. You can make use of the plastic bottles that people usually use to drink beverages. After washing them with clean water, you can remove the moisture inside. Then fill the rice at home directly into the glass bottle, cover the bottle cap, and store it in a cool place. This way the rice will be preserved for a long time without spoiling.

3. Preserve with Sichuan peppercorns

When storing rice ingredients, you can put an appropriate amount of peppercorns in the rice, which can also prevent insects. Just before putting the rice ingredients in, you should first wrap it with clean gauze, and then put the rice at home into the rice bucket, and bury the gauze bag containing peppercorns directly deep in the ground. It will emit some special smells during the storage process, which can effectively prevent the appearance of rice weevils.
