Millet Pumpkin Red Dates Porridge

Drinking a bowl of millet, pumpkin and red dates porridge warms your heart and the haze in your mind disappears immediately.

Ingredients for millet pumpkin and red dates porridge

75g millet, 15g glutinous rice, 6 red dates, 200g pumpkin

How to make millet pumpkin and red dates porridge

1. Prepare the raw materials, cut the red dates into small pieces with scissors, and discard the pits;

2. Cut off the skin of the pumpkin (cut the skin slightly thicker) and steam it in hot water until cooked;

3. Grind into pumpkin puree;

4. Put millet, glutinous rice and enough water into the pot and soak for 15 minutes (add enough water at one time), cover and cook;

5. After the water boils, open the lid and add the red dates;

6. Put the lid back on, put a spoon in the pot to separate the pot and the lid, leaving some space (to prevent the soup from overflowing), turn on the heat and continue cooking;

7. Stir with a spoon every few minutes to prevent the bottom of the pot from sticking. When the porridge is cooked to your desired thickness, add pumpkin puree (the thickness of the porridge depends on your taste);

8. Use a spoon to slowly stir the pumpkin puree into the porridge;

9. Turn off the heat when the pumpkin puree is completely integrated into the millet porridge and porridge becomes paste on the surface.

Tips

Generally, water is not added during cooking. If you think the water is not enough, add boiling water. The consistency of the porridge can be adjusted according to your taste. Some people like hard porridge, while others like thin porridge. For those who like sweet, brown sugar can be added to the porridge for flavoring.
