The New Compendium of Materia Medica says: "The one we now call Chonglou is Chongtai. It is also called Gansui by southerners. Its seedlings are like Wangsun and Guiju, with two or three layers. Its roots are like fat calamus, with thin, crisp and white flesh."
The Compendium of Materia Medica says: "It is also found in Hezhong, Heyang, Hua, Feng, Wenzhou and between Jianghuai."
The Essentials of Materia Medica says: "It is authentically from Chuzhou."
The Illustrated Record of Plant Names and Realities says: "It is common in the mountains of Jiangxi and Hunan, and is also cultivated by local people."
