How to preserve pomegranates at home

Last fall, when I went back to my hometown, my mother brought back a lot of pomegranates. But after a few days, before I had time to eat them, I found that the pomegranates had gone bad. I was very sad and wondered if there was a certain method to preserve pomegranates. Later, I did some special research and found that there are quite a few ways to preserve pomegranates at home. Now I write them down and share them with you. You can try these methods when preserving pomegranates.

How to preserve pomegranates at home

1. Pomegranates can be placed in a clay pot

Clay jars are important tools for preserving pomegranates. Before preserving pomegranates, you can first wash the jar, then cover it with a layer of wet sand, put a round bamboo tube in the middle, and then place the pomegranates around the bamboo tube until the jar is almost full. Then, cover it with a layer of warm sand, and then seal the jar with a plastic bag. This way, the pomegranates can be preserved for a long time without deteriorating.

2. Store pomegranates in bags

Using plastic bags to store pomegranates is also a good method. You can first sterilize the surface of the pomegranates as necessary, then put them in a sealable plastic bag, and then store them in the refrigerator. This way, they can be stored for about a hundred days without deteriorating. The pomegranates stored in this way will be particularly fresh, just like they were just picked from the tree.

3. Hanging pomegranates

Hanging the pomegranates after harvesting is also a good option. You just need to leave a branch when picking the pomegranates. After harvesting, string these small branches together with thread, and then hang them in a cool and ventilated place. You can also hang them in a room with little temperature change and low temperature. This will also allow the pomegranates to be preserved for a long time without deteriorating. However, ripe pomegranates should not be preserved in this way.
