The efficacy and nutritional value of apricot

Apricot is a kind of kernel fruit, which has the effect of protecting the body. It can be divided into southern apricot and northern apricot.

Fresh apricots are rarely available in Hong Kong fruit markets. Most of what we eat on a daily basis are processed products, such as cheese pulp, air-dried apricot pulp, and its dried seeds, the southern and northern apricots.

Edible apricots

There are countless varieties. Fresh apricots are rich in protein, carotene, antioxidants such as vitamins A and C, as well as minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, iron, and catechins. They are not only nutritious, but also help the human body fight against carcinogens and free radicals. From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, apricots are mild in nature and have a sweet and sour taste. Eating them raw can moisten the lungs and quench thirst, and dried fruits also have the same effect.

Nutritional value of apricots

The Compendium of Materia Medica says that it is "slightly poisonous", which probably refers to its seeds. Bitter apricots (i.e. northern apricots) contain hydrocyanic acid, and eating only 20 or 30 seeds can cause poisoning or even death. However, this component will be decomposed after heating, so it is absolutely fine to put it in soup or make sugar water. Sweet apricots (i.e. southern apricots) also contain hydrocyanic acid, but the amount is less, and their ability to relieve asthma and cough is also weaker.

The almond paste made from it can help with bowel movements, relieve coughs and moisten the lungs. The almonds we eat as snacks in our daily lives also have similar effects.

But the drug is less potent.

In addition to almonds and apricots, ginkgo (also known as white gingko) also contains a small amount of hydrocyanic acid, so it is not suitable to be eaten raw in large quantities.

It has the effect of clearing away heat. If you want to try it, you should limit yourself to taking a dozen pills.

Ginkgo Biloba Can Lower Cholesterol

(i.e., dredge blood vessels), strengthen the kidneys, and relieve cough. People with cold deficiency can simmer it and mix it with medicine, and have nocturia.

Those who have excessive vaginal discharge can simmer it and dip it in honey. However, it should be noted that although tofu is commonly used nowadays,

Bamboo, ginkgo and egg syrup is not suitable for people with weak constitution.
