Specific steps of grape cellar preservation method

Grapes are a fruit that is available in large quantities every autumn. They are sweet and juicy. They are a special fruit that can be eaten directly and made into wine. However, the shelf life of grapes is relatively short. If they are not stored properly, they will go bad. Grape cellaring is one of the important ways for people to store grapes. This storage method can make the shelf life of grapes last for several months or even longer. The following are the specific steps of grape cellaring preservation method. Those who need help can refer to it.

Specific steps of grape cellar preservation method

1. Before storing grapes in a cellar, you need to build an underground storage cellar. This type of storage cellar is mostly built underground and is made of stone or brick. After the cellar is built, there is no grouting, which can help increase the humidity in the cellar. Ventilation holes should be reserved at the four corners of the storage cellar. The size of the ventilation hole can be 25 cm square.

2. The door of the grape storage cellar is on the top cover, which is convenient for people to enter and exit. When people harvest grapes, they should leave about ten centimeters of branches on the stems, which is conducive to the storage of grapes. Grapes are stored in the storage cellar in early October every year. After storage, they are fumigated with sulfur dioxide, and the fumigation time cannot be less than 60 minutes.

3. After the grapes are stored, they should be fumigated once every thirty days. The fumigation time can be freely selected between thirty minutes and sixty minutes. After a month, the temperature in the storage cellar will drop below zero. At this time, fumigation can be carried out once every month. While maintaining fumigation, pay attention to the humidity in the cellar, which cannot be lower than ninety percent. If it is lower than this number, water spraying should be carried out.

4. The temperature inside the grape cellar can be adjusted through its ventilation holes. When it is opened during the day, the temperature in the cellar will rise. It can be closed at night to keep warm. Storing grapes in this way can extend the shelf life of about six months and will not deteriorate until April or May of the following year.
