Differences between carnations and dianthus

The beautiful carnation is also known as the mother flower. It is a very common ornamental flower in nature and an important raw material for making fresh flowers. However, there is also a kind of carnation growing in nature. It looks very similar to carnation. Some people can't tell the difference between it and carnation at all. Today, the editor will give a detailed introduction to them to let everyone know the differences between Acacia bamboo and carnation.

Differences between carnations and dianthus

1. Different leaves

Dianthus and carnation are two different plants. Although they both belong to the Caryophyllaceae family, the leaves of carnation are linear lanceolate, with a length of 3 to 5 cm. There are small serrations on the edges of the leaves, and the veins are very clear. The leaves of carnation are mostly between 4 and 14 cm long, which is longer than those of carnation.

2. Different flowers

Both carnations and carnations can produce beautiful flowers, but the flowers of the other plant are single or scattered, and the length of its pedicels is mostly between 1 and 3 cm. The bracts of the flowers are oval, about 15 mm long and 4 to 5 mm in diameter. The flowers of the carnation plant are single, and the pedicels are relatively short. Its bracts range from four to six, while carnations have only four.

3. Different heights

Although the appearance of carnations and dianthus are very similar, the former is only 30 to 50 cm tall when grown up, while the carnation is slightly taller, with a height between 40 and 70 cm when grown up. This is the most important difference between the two.

4. Different flower language

The flower language of carnation and carnation is also different. The former is just an ordinary ornamental plant that beautifies the environment and purifies the air, while the latter is not only an ornamental plant but also represents the mother's love. It is the best gift for mother and the best choice for giving to mother on Mother's Day.

Today we will focus on introducing the differences between carnations and carnations, so that you can know the differences between these two plants and better distinguish and use them in your future life.
