How to plant Clivia? Clivia seed planting method

Clivia is a beautiful ornamental plant. It can be used to appreciate both flowers and leaves. Placing it indoors can beautify the environment and purify the air. However, when people usually grow Clivia, they buy potted plants in the flower market. Some people want to grow Clivia themselves, but they don’t know how to grow it. Today I will write down its planting method, and you will understand it after reading it.

How to plant Clivia? Clivia seed planting method

1. The most common way to grow Clivia is by sowing, but before sowing, you must collect the seeds of Clivia. After the fruit of this plant is ripe, you can cut off the entire fruit arrow from the bottom, and then put it in a cool and ventilated place to dry for fifteen days. After processing, you can take out the seeds inside.

2. After the Clivia seeds are taken out, they must be selected. Be sure to select those seeds with full seeds and buds. After wrapping them with gauze, put them in a ventilated area without sunlight for 3 to 5 days before proceeding to the next step. Put the processed Clivia seeds in a clean glass jar and add warm water of about 25 degrees to soak for one to five days.

3. After taking out the soaked Clivia seeds, put them in a large plastic basket and cover them with sawdust. Spray water on the sawdust every day to maintain good humidity. Wait until the seeds germinate before taking them out for sowing.

4. There are many different ways to plant Clivia seeds after germination. The most common one is river sand sowing. When choosing this method to plant Clivia, you can choose river sand with finer particles, wash it with clean water, disinfect it with boiling water, put it in a container and scrape it flat, plant the Clivia seeds with the buds facing up, cover them with a thin layer of sand, and place them in a warm environment for seedling cultivation.

5. In addition to planting through seeds, Clivia can also be planted by transplanting roots. In the autumn of each year, take out the tuberous roots of Clivia, cut them into several pieces, disinfect them with potassium permanganate, and preserve them. In the spring of the following year, plant them directly in a flowerpot. After planting, place them in a warm and humid environment, and new shoots will grow in about ten days.
