Cultivation methods and techniques of bamboo leaf begonia

Bamboo-leaf Begonia is a special variety of Begonia, named because its leaves are similar to bamboo leaves. The leaves of this plant are mostly green on the surface, with small white dots on the back. It has a variety of colors, rich fragrance, and a particularly long flowering period. It is the most suitable ornamental plant to be cultivated at home. But how can you grow bamboo-leaf Begonia well? I will share my cultivation experience with you in a while.

1. Growth habits

If you want to grow a bamboo-leaf crabapple well, you must have a comprehensive understanding of its growth habits. This plant is shade-tolerant, but it likes a warm and humid environment. In addition, the bamboo-leaf crabapple also likes fertile, loose, and well-drained soil. It is relatively cold-resistant, and its leaves can remain bright green as long as the room temperature is not lower than five degrees in winter.

2. Moderate light

When growing bamboo leaf crabapple, you need to provide it with moderate light. This plant likes shade and is afraid of strong light, but it also needs sufficient sunlight during its normal growth period, so it should be placed on a sunny balcony. However, after the hot summer weather, it is necessary to provide it with necessary shade to prevent it from being exposed to direct sunlight.

3. Fertilizer and water management

Fertilizer and water management is also very important if you want to grow a bamboo-leaf begonia well. This plant has shallow roots. It likes a humid environment but is afraid of waterlogging. Therefore, you should pay more attention to watering. You should keep the soil moist but not let water accumulate in the pot. In addition, the bamboo-leaf begonia has a relatively large demand for fertilizer during its growth period, but it avoids concentrated fertilizer. It is best to apply liquid fertilizer once every 20 days during its growth period.

4. Pest and disease management

Bamboo-leaf Begonia is prone to diseases during cultivation, especially in hot and humid weather, the incidence rate is higher. At this time, ventilation should be increased and watering should be reduced. After the disease is discovered, medicine should be sprayed in time. It is best to choose carbendazim and thiophanate-methyl. The medicine should be diluted in proportion before spraying, and it should not be used directly.
