The cultivation methods and precautions of bougainvillea

Bougainvillea is a tropical plant that is mostly grown in southern China. It is usually grown for viewing. It can be planted in gardens or potted. However, it is difficult to grow Bougainvillea well if you need to master certain methods and understand what to pay attention to during the cultivation process.

How to grow bougainvillea

1. Choose the right culture soil

When growing bougainvillea, you must choose suitable culture soil. This plant has strong vitality and is not demanding on soil, but it likes sticky soil with good drainage and a relatively high mineral content. In addition, it is best to keep the culture soil slightly acidic, so that the bougainvillea can produce more flowers with brighter colors.

2. Reasonable watering

Bougainvillea is an ornamental plant that likes sufficient water. It should be watered once a day in spring and autumn. After entering summer, the weather is hot and the water evaporates quickly, so the watering frequency should be increased. It can be watered once in the morning and evening every day. At this time, you should also spray water on the leaves in time, otherwise the air will be too dry, the Bougainvillea will stop growing and the leaves may turn yellow.

3. Ambient temperature

Ambient temperature is one of the important conditions for growing bougainvillea. This plant grows fastest when the external ambient temperature is between 15 and 30 degrees. In the hot summer weather, the ambient temperature should be lowered by spraying water on the leaves and ventilating to ensure the normal growth of bougainvillea. After winter, as long as it is placed in an environment above five degrees, it can survive the winter safely.

Breeding precautions

When growing bougainvillea, you must pay attention to the regulation of light. This plant likes a semi-shaded environment, but after entering winter, you should place the bougainvillea in front of a sunny window, and it should receive at least eight hours of sunlight a day, otherwise it will be difficult for the bougainvillea to bloom normally. In addition, when growing bougainvillea, you must pay special attention to fertilization. You must apply thin fertilizers frequently, and never apply concentrated fertilizers, otherwise its roots will rot and the leaves will turn yellow. In severe cases, it will cause the bougainvillea to die.
