Areca palm is a kind of flower decoration. Many people have seen Areca palm . It looks like a smaller version of coconut tree. Areca palm is actually a palm family , so its appearance is so similar to coconut tree. Areca palm is a tropical plant. Let's take a look at the cultivation method of Areca palm . Cultivation method of Areca palm(1) Normally, the Areca palm can be placed in a bright and ventilated indoor environment for long-term cultivation and viewing, but avoid outdoor exposure to the sun. During the best growing period of 20-35℃, thin fertilizer should be applied 1-2 times a month. The potting soil should be dry and avoid moisture in winter. In the summer growing period, water should be applied to prevent dryness. The soil for the growth of the Areca palm must be rich in organic matter and have good drainage. The potting soil needs to be repotted and replaced every 2-3 years. The potting soil can be made of 1/3 mountain mud and 2/3 river sand; or river sand and fermented sawdust can be mixed in half and then used. Use a mud pot or uranium pot to facilitate drainage and ventilation. (2) The culture soil must be well-drained. It is best to use soil with a high organic content. For potted plants, humus soil or peat soil can be added with 1/3 river sand or perlite and a small amount of base fertilizer to make the culture soil. When planting, bury it a little deeper to facilitate the new buds to fertilize. In May and June, when the growth is vigorous, fertilize and water once every 1-2 weeks. It is better to use slow-release compound fertilizer. Stop fertilizing after late autumn. (3) Watering should follow the principle of "dry thoroughly, wet thoroughly". Pay attention to timely watering during the growth period to keep the pot soil moist. Water twice a day during the summer when the growth is vigorous. Control watering after late autumn and on rainy days, and keep the air humidity around the plant high. In summer, you should also spray water on the leaves and the ground to increase the air humidity. In winter, the leaves should be kept clean, and you can spray water on the leaves or scrub them frequently. The suitable temperature for the growth of Areca palm is 25-35℃. It has weak cold resistance and is sensitive to low temperatures. The wintering temperature should be above 10℃. If it is below 5℃, the plant will definitely be damaged. (4) The main reason for the death of Areca palm in winter and spring in the north is low temperature. In summer, 50% of the sunlight should be blocked, and direct sunlight should be avoided. Even short-term exposure will cause the leaves to burn and it will be difficult to recover. It should be placed in a bright place indoors. Too much darkness is not good for the growth of Areca palm. (5) Disease and insect pest control of Areca palm is also critical. First, ventilation management should be strengthened. Damaged branches and leaves should be cut off in time to prevent the spread of pathogens. Antifungal drugs such as Daktarin can be applied. 70% thiophanate-methyl 800 solution or 75% chlorothalonil 1000 times solution can also be sprayed once every 7 to 10 days. Spray 3 to 4 times in succession to effectively control the disease. |
