Milan is a small ornamental tree, a very special species. What do you need to know if you want to grow Milan well? Let's take a look at the propagation method of Milan. How to propagate Milan flowersIt is generally better to propagate Milan in the rainy season in summer, because the temperature is high and the humidity is high, so it is easy to propagate and survive. There are three methods for propagating Milan: layering, high pressure and cutting, with cutting and high pressure being the main methods. Cutting method It is easy to propagate Milan by cuttings, and the number is large. There are two methods for propagating Milan: one is to use cuttings from old branches grown in the first year, which can be done between April and May; the other is to use cuttings from tender branches grown in the current year, which can be done between June and July. When choosing cuttings, whether they are old branches grown in the previous year or young branches grown in the current year, you should choose branches that are strong, full and have good growth potential. Softwood cutting propagation is generally done between June and July each year. Select strong branches that have grown that year, cut them into about 10 cm long, cut off the leaves below, and leave 2-3 leaflets on the top. It is best to soak them in vitamin B12 injection before cutting to promote rooting. Use flower pots as cutting beds, vermiculite or river sand as cutting medium, with a depth of 4-5 cm. After insertion, compact and water thoroughly, and cover with plastic film. Keep high temperature and humidity at 28-30C. Spray water 2-3 times a day to keep the soil moist. It will take root in 40-50 days. High layering The high pressure method is better to be carried out under conditions of high temperature and high humidity. The layering time is generally between May and August, and the best time is the rainy season in early June, with a high survival rate and fast rooting. Because during this period, the environmental humidity is relatively high. Practice has shown that the high pressure from this period will gradually take root after 40 days. By October, if it is properly maintained, it can still bloom 1-2 times. High pressure can also be applied in July, but this is the time of midsummer heat. The sun is fierce, water evaporates quickly, the environment is dry, and the branches and leaves of the high pressure parts are easy to scorch, and healing and rooting will be slower. Therefore, after high pressure, the potted mother Milan should be placed in a semi-shaded or semi-sunny place, otherwise it will easily scorch. When choosing high-pressure parts, you should select strong, woody branches that grow every other year without affecting the shape of the entire mother plant. Remove the leaves and perform ring peeling at a length of 15-25 cm. For high layering, choose strong, disease- and insect-free semi-lignified branches of the year, which should be more than 0.5 cm thick. Peel the bark in a ring shape 7-8 cm below the branching point, wrap the ring-barked area with mud, wet vermiculite or moss, and wrap it tightly with plastic film, leaving a hole for watering. Keep it moist at all times. After taking root after 2-3 months, you can cut it from the mother plant and put it in a pot to facilitate flowering. High-position layering can be divided into pot-covering type and mud-wrapping type. ① Pot-in-pot method: Choose one-year-old, woody and strong branches, and put them into a flower pot with enlarged bottom holes. Make sure the flower pot is firmly fixed. Peel the bark of the Milan branch in a ring shape with a width of 1 cm, then fill the soil around it and compact it, and water it thoroughly. After that, water it every day to keep the soil moist. Generally, it will take two months for the roots to grow, and then it can be cut off from the mother plant and cultivated separately. ② Mud wrapping: Choose one-year-old woody and strong branches, peel them in a ring shape at a position about 10 cm away from the base of the branches, leave 4-5 small branches on the upper part, cut off all the lower side branches, wrap the peeled part with pre-prepared soil (mixed with fertilizer and moss, dried on the stove, kneaded with boiling water, and cooled thoroughly), wrap it with plastic enzyme film, tie it tightly with thread, prevent water leakage at the bottom, and loosen the upper part to facilitate water injection. The wrapped part should be 10 cm long and 5 cm in diameter. In the future, water should be injected into the wrapped part every day to keep it moist. It can take root in two months and can be cut off from the mother plant and planted separately. |
