Angelica Porridge

The effect of angelica porridge

Chinese medicine - Angelica sinensis nourishes blood and activates blood circulation, regulates menstruation and relieves pain, moistens the intestines and promotes bowel movements. It is used for blood deficiency, sallow complexion, dizziness and palpitations, irregular menstruation, amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, abdominal pain due to deficiency and cold, constipation due to dry intestines, rheumatic pain, injuries from falls, carbuncles and ulcers.

The effect of angelica porridge

1. Effects on uterine smooth muscle

Effect on isolated uterus In 1954, Fu Hua et al. reported that the angelica root in Minxian County, Gansu Province contained two components that could excite and inhibit uterine smooth muscle, and had a bidirectional effect. The inhibitory component was mainly volatile oil, and the excitatory component was a non-volatile substance that was water-soluble or alcohol-soluble but insoluble in ether. In the same year, Wu Baojie et al. also reported that angelica had different effects on isolated uterus and in vivo uterus, and the decoction or ethanol extract had a dominant inhibitory effect on isolated uterus (for in vivo uterus, it was mainly an excitatory effect). The following year, Pi Xiping's experiment showed that the wine extract and water extract were inhibitory when first used, and excitatory when administered again after flushing and recovery. Further studies have shown that angelica volatile oil has a direct inhibitory effect on the isolated uterus of rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, rats, dogs and other animals that are not pregnant, early pregnant, late pregnant, and postpartum, causing the rhythmic contraction to gradually decrease to disappear, and present a state of relaxation. It also counteracts uterine contractions caused by posterior pituitary hormone, histamine, adrenaline and acetylcholine. Angelica fluid extract is mainly stimulant, and large doses sometimes have an inhibitory effect.

It was demonstrated that a mixture of ferulic acid and tetramethylpyrazine administered po or iv had an enhancing effect on the inhibition of uterine contraction in situ in rats.

2. Effects on the cardiovascular system

Lan Dahe et al. reported that the perfusion experiment of isolated toad heart showed that the volatile oil contained in the angelica decoction or roots and leaves can significantly inhibit the frequency of myocardial contraction. Zhang Shufang et al. administered drugs by iv administration through the abdominal wall, indicating that most toad hearts in vivo had complete atrioventricular conduction block, the atrial contraction force was significantly weakened, and then gradually recovered, the frequency slowed down, but the ventricular contraction force was enhanced. Wei Lianji reported that angelica fluid extract can prolong the refractory period of isolated rabbit atria, and has a therapeutic effect on atrial fibrillation caused by acetylcholine or electric current in anesthetized cats and dogs. The active ingredients with the above quinidine-like effects are mainly present in the ether extract. According to the Jiangsu Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, angelica fluid extract and ether extract can reduce myocardial excitability and significantly prolong the refractory period.

2.1. Antiarrhythmic effect

2.2. Effects on coronary blood flow and myocardial oxygen consumption

2.3. Effects on blood vessels, blood pressure, and organ blood flow

2.4. Effects of lowering blood lipids and preventing experimental atherosclerosis
