Cultivation methods and precautions of succulent plants Ice Lantern Jade Dew

Succulent plants are very popular now, but you need to be very careful when planting them, otherwise you may end up planting them in a weird way. The succulent plant Ice Lantern Jade is such a small and lovely plant. If you plan to plant it, you must know how to grow it.

Cultivation method of succulent plant Ice Lantern Jade Dew

Because the cells of Ice Lantern Jade are thick and the heat dissipation is slow, care should be taken to avoid long-term exposure to high temperatures in the summer. It should be placed in a cool place with good scattered light conditions. When watering, it should be noted that the plant should be watered when it is dry and watered thoroughly. The most suitable growth temperature for Ice Lantern Jade is 15-28 degrees. Exceeding 35 degrees or being below 5 degrees will cause damage to its growth.

There is a lot of water in the flesh of the ice lantern jade, so pay attention to ventilation and cooling in the summer nights. When planting ice lantern jade, choose soil with good drainage and no caking.

It looks very special when it is covered with dew and gray, and it looks even more beautiful after watering. Regular sun exposure helps the color to develop, and it appears purple under the light. It will appear green when the light is insufficient. It is not easy to grow leggy, and the growth is slow. It is not easy to produce side buds. I heard that some people have raised it for 3 to 4 years without any side buds. It is basically propagated by leaf cuttings, beheading, etc.

Personal experience: If the climate is good, it basically grows all year round, without obvious dormancy period. I spend the winter in the open air on my balcony, and I don't water it when the temperature is below 5 degrees in winter. In summer, it is above 35 degrees, and the water cannot evaporate in time, so I don't water it. In winter, if the temperature is below 5 degrees or it is raining, I basically put it in a transparent cup and leave it alone. I personally think that the plant will grow healthier this way. The soil I use is: ** peat 40%, pumice 20%, vermiculite 20%, rice husk carbon 10%, plant ash 10%

The hard red jade soil of the Nihonsen line is used for the pavement, 1~3mm. No chemical fertilizers or flower fertilizers are used. Pesticides and fungicides are used at specific times every year.

Things to note when growing Ice Lantern Jade Dew

(1) Soil

Ice lantern jade requires well-ventilated and well-drained soil that is not easy to clump. It can also be planted with artificial synthetic materials such as red jade soil, orchid stone, and plant stone, but an appropriate amount of peat soil should be added to increase the organic matter content of the soil.

(2) Water content

When watering, follow the principle of watering when the soil is dry and water thoroughly. Do not expose the soil to the sun after watering, but place it in a cool place with low light. Avoid water accumulation, and do not let it get wet in the rain, especially for a long time, to avoid root rot. However, it is not suitable for long-term drought, otherwise the plant will not die, but the leaves will become shriveled and the color will become dull. When the air is dry, spray water on the plant and the surrounding environment frequently.

(3) Temperature

The lowest temperature at night in winter is around 8℃, and the daytime temperature is above 20℃. The plant can continue to grow. The most suitable temperature is 15~28℃, and the temperature is 5~35℃ is the tolerance limit of the plant. If it is kept below 5℃ for a long time, the plant will not die, but the leaves will be frostbitten.

(4) Fertilization

During the growing season, for plants with vigorous growth, you can apply decomposed thin liquid fertilizer or compound fertilizer with low nitrogen and high phosphorus and potassium once a month. Newly potted plants or plants with weak growth do not need to be fertilized. It is also not necessary to fertilize during the dormant period when the temperature is high in summer or low in winter. The best time to fertilize is in the morning or evening when the weather is clear.

(5) Air

Ventilation is very important, and ventilation should be strengthened on hot summer nights. It needs to be kept in a dry place and avoid exposure to the sun and long-term rain.

(6) Lighting

Be careful of long-term exposure to high temperatures in the summer. Succulents have thick tissue cells and slow heat dissipation, which can easily cause sunburn on the leaves. In other seasons, full sunlight is helpful for plant growth. (There are many plants that need shade, such as succulents, which are tender green and transparent, so be careful of sunburn).

(7) Repotting

Since the roots of the jade plant secrete acidic substances, which acidifies the soil and causes the roots to age and become hollow, it can be repotted once a year in spring or autumn. If the plant's growth stagnates and the leaves shrivel during the growth period, it is likely that the root system is damaged. The seedlings should be repotted in time to tidy up the root system. When repotting, cut off the old and hollow roots, cut short the overly long roots, retain the thick white new roots, and then plant them in new culture soil.
