Clivia cultivation methods and precautions

Speaking of the gentleman among flowers, I believe that the first thing that comes to everyone’s mind is the lotus, but in fact there is another flower that can also be called a gentleman, that is Clivia. Clivia has bright colors and a unique flower shape, and is loved by many friends. So let me tell you about the cultivation methods and precautions of Clivia!

Clivia cultivation methods and precautions

1. Clivia is different from most flowers. It is a shade-tolerant plant and prefers moist and cool places. Therefore, especially in summer, Clivia should avoid strong light as much as possible. The generally suitable growth temperature for Clivia is between 15 and 25 degrees. In winter, it is mainly necessary to keep it warm and create a warm environment to help it survive the winter.

2. The choice of flowerpots for Clivia is also a problem. It does not mean that the more exquisite the flowerpot is, the better, but it depends on the air permeability of the flowerpot. Therefore, in order to protect the roots of Clivia from rotting, you should pay attention to choosing more breathable flowerpots. Flowerpots that have been used for many years should also be cleaned and it is better to use them after exposure to the sun.

3. Pay attention to using tiles to pave the bottom of the flower pot, which is conducive to the drainage of water and increases air permeability. The following ratios can be used in the selection and preparation of flower soil:

Leaf mold accounts for 50%, coarse sand accounts for 5, charcoal and rubble account for 20, and mature fertilizer accounts for 15.

4. The soil change cycle of Clivia can be once a year, preferably in spring and autumn. The soil change is to remove the roots and compact the soil against the roots. After changing the soil, spray water to ensure its complete penetration.

5. The roots of Clivia are fleshy, so water accumulation in the pot is likely to cause root rot. Therefore, in winter, you must pay special attention to watering in moderation. It is best to use a watering can.
