How to store red dates? How to extend the shelf life of red dates

Red dates have high health and edible value, so how can we prevent them from being infested with insects and becoming shriveled?

How to preserve red dates?

1) We should expose the dates to the sun for 4 to 5 days before the Qingming Festival. To prevent the dates from turning black, you can cover them with a piece of cloth, or spread them out in a cool and ventilated place to dry for a few days. After they are dry, put them in a jar and cover them with a wooden lid, or mix them with wood ash and put them in a bucket and cover them.

2) Use 30-40 grams of salt, stir-fry and grind into powder, sprinkle it on 500 grams of red dates in layers, and then seal it tightly. The red dates will not go bad. If the amount of red dates is large, the amount of salt should be increased proportionally.

3) Because red dates are very susceptible to insects, especially in the summer when the sun is strong, you should soak the red dates in boiling water to scald off the dirt on the surface, then quickly pick them up to dry, dry them in the sun, and then store them in a moisture-proof jar. This will prevent them from getting moths to a certain extent.

4) First expose the red dates to the sun for a few days, then heat up the salt and let it cool, then put it into the jar in the order of a layer of dates and a layer of salt, and finally seal it. The appropriate amount of salt is 40 grams per kilogram of red dates. In this way, the red dates will not be infested with insects or mold even in summer.
