How to preserve fresh daylily

Daylily is the fresh flower buds of an annual herb. It has tender flesh, rich nutrition, and contains many nutrients that are beneficial to the human body. However, daylily is mostly on the market during the hot weather from June to August. It often deteriorates after people collect it, which makes people distressed. In fact, there are many ways to preserve daylily after it is collected. I will write them down later. Friends who don’t know how to preserve daylily can take a look at it carefully.

How to preserve daylily

1. Daylily can be refrigerated

Fresh day lily has a very short shelf life in the natural environment. When the external temperature is between 25 and 30 degrees, it will deteriorate in two or three days. You can extend its shelf life by storing it in the refrigerator, which can keep it for about seven days. However, you need to wrap the day lily with plastic wrap or a fresh-keeping box when storing it.

2. Dehydration and preservation of daylily

In order to extend the shelf life of day lily, you can dehydrate it before storing it. The dehydration method is not complicated. Wrap the fresh day lily in a plastic bag, and then expose it to high temperature for two hours. After taking it out, spread it on the cement floor. When spreading it, make sure it is spread out thinly and do not overlap. Under fine weather conditions, the day lily can be successfully dried in two days.

3. Storage of dehydrated daylily

After dehydration, day lily can be stored for about a year without deterioration, but care should be taken when storing the dehydrated day lily. It should not be exposed to moisture and should be placed in a sealed container. The simplest way is to put them in a plastic bag to remove the air. You can also store the dehydrated day lily in a large jar. After storage, you should spread some wood ash on the bottom, place the day lily on the ash, and then seal the jar mouth. This can also reduce the occurrence of mildew and insect infestation on the day lily.
