Lettuce growth process and pictures

1. Sowing and raising lettuce seedlings

Sowing and raising seedlings are the first step in planting lettuce. After sowing and raising seedlings, the lettuce seeds must be subjected to necessary germination treatment. The seeds need to be soaked in warm water first, and then wrapped in wet cloth and placed in a warm place for germination. After five or six days, new sprouts will grow from the seeds and they can be sown. The time should be between August of each year and February of the following year.

2. Planting of lettuce

About twenty days after sowing, lettuce will grow four small leaves, and then it can be transplanted. The spacing between lettuce plants should be about fifteen centimeters when transplanting. When transplanting, sufficient base fertilizer should be applied to the soil. In addition to organic fertilizer, some compound fertilizer should also be added. The amount of compound fertilizer per mu should be about fifty kilograms.

3. Water supply and harvesting of lettuce

Lettuce needs sufficient water during its growth period, but the amount of water required in different growth periods is also different. When it is in the seedling stage, the amount of water should not be too large. During the vigorous growth period, the soil should be kept moist. In addition, lettuce is a green vegetable mainly for edible fresh leaves. It can be harvested in about 60 days of growth. If it is harvested too late, it will affect its taste.
