Chinese Cabbage

Chinese Cabbage

Chinese cabbage is almost the only thing we can eat in winter. It is very nutritious. Let’s learn more about it.

Chinese Cabbage

Also known as green cabbage, chicken-feather cabbage, oil cabbage, and common cabbage, it is a variant of the Chinese cabbage of the cruciferous family. The leaves of Chinese cabbage are firm and bright, oval or oblong, about 30 cm long, and green in color; the base of the leaves gradually narrows into petioles, and the petioles are narrow. Chinese cabbage is native to my country and is cultivated in various places. It is most widely planted in the south and is available all year round, with the most in spring and summer.

Chinese cabbage is rich in calcium, phosphorus and iron, with a tender texture and a fresh taste. It is a popular vegetable. The best Chinese cabbage is the one with no yellow or rotten leaves and a neat appearance. Chinese cabbage is the vegetable richest in minerals and vitamins. Chinese cabbage contains more calcium, vitamin C and carotene than Chinese cabbage, and slightly less sugar and carbohydrates than Chinese cabbage.

effect

1. Chinese cabbage contains a large amount of crude fiber. After entering the human body and combining with fat, it can prevent the formation of plasma cholesterol and promote the excretion of cholesterol metabolite bile acid from the body to reduce the formation of atherosclerosis and thus maintain blood vessel elasticity.

2. Chinese cabbage contains a large amount of carotene and is rich in vitamin C. After entering the human body, it can promote skin cell metabolism, prevent skin roughness and pigmentation, make the skin bright and delay aging.

3. The vitamin C contained in pakchoy forms a "hyaluronic acid inhibitor" in the body. This substance has anti-cancer effects and can make cancer cells lose their vitality.

4. The crude fiber contained in Chinese cabbage can promote large intestine peristalsis, increase the excretion of toxins in the large intestine, and achieve the purpose of preventing and fighting cancer.

Storage instructions

It can be stored in a cool and ventilated place, but it is best to keep it in the refrigerator. Avoid washing with water during storage. After washing with water, the osmotic pressure and cell respiration outside the stem and leaf cells will change, causing the stem and leaf cells to die and rot, and the nutritional components will be greatly damaged.

Cooking knowledge

When making dishes with Chinese cabbage, the frying or boiling time should not be too long to avoid loss of nutrients.

Dietary precautions

1. Pakchoy is edible for most people. It is especially suitable for patients with lung heat cough, constipation, erysipelas, lacquer sores, boils, etc. and those who are calcium deficient.

2. Because pakchoy is cold in nature, people with weak spleen and stomach should not eat too much.
