Onion planting management and planting methods

Onion is a root vegetable that is rich in nutrients and has low requirements for the growing environment. It is a common vegetable variety that can be grown in most areas. If you want to plant onions, you can read the editor's introduction to onion planting management and planting methods.

How to grow onions

Planting onions requires seedling cultivation and planting. When planting onions, people need to sow about 200 grams per acre of land, and after the seeds are buried in the ground, they need to set up a shade net. Generally, the shade net can only be removed after all the seeds have emerged from the soil. After emerging from the soil, the new seedlings will be planted according to the rule of 15 cm plant spacing and 20 cm row spacing.

Onion planting management methods

1. Topdressing during the onion growth period

After the onion seedlings are planted, they need to be top-dressed once, mainly with concentrated fertilizer, which can ensure that the onion seedlings survive the winter smoothly. In addition, top-dressing should be done once in the spring and during the rapid growth period of the onion.

2. Irrigation during the onion growing period

Onions need to be watered three times during their growth period, but not too much, because too much water will cause the onions to rot. The three irrigations are after the seedlings are planted, after the arrival of spring, and the other time is when the bulbs begin to grow.

3. Field management of onions

It is very important to cultivate and weed during the growth period of onions. The time of cultivating and weeding is not fixed and can be determined according to the specific conditions of the onion field. Generally, when the onions grow to the point where the leaves are upright, the weeds will increase, which is the best time to cultivate and weed.
