What kind of loofah is best

Which loofah variety is the best? I believe that farmers are very clear about it. Let's learn about it together.

Loofah

What are the excellent varieties of loofah? Loofah is a vegetable grown in the courtyard or corner vegetable plot. It is not very demanding on fertilizer and water conditions, and has few diseases. Its harvest period is during the off-season of vegetables from August to September, so it is very popular. There are two varieties of loofah currently cultivated: ordinary loofah and ribbed loofah.

Here are some main representative varieties:

What kind of loofah is best

(1) Club-shaped loofah: It is cultivated in various places. The plant is a vine with strong growth potential. The leaves are palmately lobed, dark green on the front and gray-green on the back. The melon is stick-shaped, round at the base and tapering at the tip. It is about 40 cm long and 3 to 4 cm thick. The melon skin is green with 10 light green linear protrusions on the surface. The melon flesh is thick, white-green, tender, and of medium quality. A single melon weighs about 250 grams. This variety produces many melons and has a high yield.

(2) Thread gourd: This variety was introduced from the south to the north many years ago. The plant has strong growth potential and is a vine. The leaves are palmately lobed. The gourd is slender and stick-shaped, gradually thickening in the middle and lower parts. The gourd is 75 to 95 cm long and the horizontal diameter is about 3 cm on average. A single gourd weighs about 250 grams. The gourd skin is green with wrinkles and vertical stripes. The gourd flesh is green and white, tender, with little fiber and good quality. Thread gourd matures late, is heat-resistant, and has strong resistance to diseases and insect pests. The gourd grows fast.

(3) Angular loofah: The plant grows vigorously. The stem is vine-like, with the first female flower at the 6th to 7th node, and the side vines produce fruits early. The leaves are dark green, palm-shaped pentagonal, and smooth without hair. The fruit is long and stick-shaped, thin at the base and thick at the tip. The skin is green, hard, and has 8 to 10 vertical angular edges. The flesh is white, tender and juicy, with a fresh fragrance and good quality. Angular loofah is heat-resistant and moisture-resistant, but poorly cold-resistant, and is suitable for cultivation in summer and autumn.

The efficacy of loofah

1. Anti-scurvy:

Luffa is high in vitamin C, containing 8 mg per 100 grams, which can be used to prevent scurvy and various vitamin C deficiencies.

2. Brain health and beauty:

Because loofah contains high content of vitamin B and other substances, it is beneficial to the brain development of children and the brain health of middle-aged and elderly people. The juice of the loofah vine has the special function of maintaining skin elasticity and can beautify and remove wrinkles.

The loofah contains B vitamins that prevent skin aging and vitamin C that whitens the skin. It can protect the skin, eliminate plaques, and make the skin white and tender. It is a rare beauty product, so loofah juice is called "beauty water". Eating more loofah can also help regulate menstrual disorders.

3. Antiviral and anti-allergic:

Luffa extract has a significant preventive effect on Japanese encephalitis virus. An anti-allergic substance, bromocriptine acid, is also extracted from the luffa tissue culture medium, which has a strong anti-allergic effect.
